“Dream destination. Vanessa’s home is a dream. In the beautiful village of Vorno south of Lucca is the most gorgeously interesting and comfortable couchhouse alongside the stunning Tuscan Villa to rent for large family gatherings and weddings. welcomed by David and shown “ the best room in the house” it was so good it took a while to get up in the mornings! Swimming pool, tennis court, olive groves , walking trails and two excellent family run restaurants in the village makes Vorno a destination in itself. Just 20 minutes by bus or car to Lovely Lucca . A gem. My favourite Italian town . So relaxed, made for pedestrians and cyclists and not overrun .. yet . We didn’t want to leave! Vanessa, David and Marcello the manager are the loveliest people , patient and hospitable. If LHS gave Ten stars this would have it! ”

“Katharine and I had a really lovely time in Tuscany. Vanessa and David could not have done any more for us including getting us fed on our first night when the local restaurant was closed! We had planned to do some day trips to Florence etc but were so happy in our surroundings; we stayed within a 10 Km radius of the house only venturing into the beautiful city of Lucca each day. The restaurant in the village is excellent and of course there are so many options in Lucca. Our most memorable culinary experience was undoubtedly dining at L’imbuto. The food and the service were just incredible. A special mention for the Opera at the Chiesa di San Giovanni. Puccini in his home town of Lucca never sounded so good. Thanks again Vanessa, your home is amazing and we hope to return in the near future. ”
“We had a wonderful stay in the coach house of the Villa Michaela in Vorno. The area is simply beautiful and unspoilt with olive trees, vineyards, roses, jasmine … a little slice of heaven on earth. The coach house exceeded our expectations.. it is beautifully furnished with lots of double bedrooms, each with their own ensuite shower or bathroom. There is a large sitting room and dining room and a big kitchen with everything you could possibly need including an aga! Villa Michaela which lies just behind the coach house is just incredible, full of elegant and interesting rooms which are let on a b&b basis, there was even a chapel. We spent our evenings sitting on the patio, sipping wine and looking at the fireflies glowing in the garden or we ventured down the road to the local restaurant for excellent pizza or best of all, ate outside next to the vineyards at Scompiglio (book first). You can easily go to Lucca from here… which is an old walled town but it can get a bit hot and busy. We visited the Piaggio museum in Pontedera which was a like an art gallery mixed with a museum and had every model under the sun. Well worth a visit. Overall it was wonderful… only slight snag was the pool which was under renovation so check first on this before you go. The whole vibe is extremely relaxed and we would love to return one day. ”
“Our stay at Villa Michaela was our first visit to Italy and didn't disappoint! This ancient Tuscan retreat has an extremely relaxed atmosphere and set amongst 50 acres of olives groves in the sleepy foothill village of Vorno. An idyllic base to explore out from and surprisingly offers a bus service to nearby city of Lucca (with imposing Renaissance walls) and efficient train and bus service for day trips to places such as Pisa and Florence. We also drove to the coast and discovered some seriously long beaches! Vorno also boasts a couple of nice restaurants within walking distance as are the hills above the villa...resounding with birdsong of summer warblers! All in all a great location to escape from ‘the business of life’ and switch-off! ...thanks for the stay!”
“Dear Vanessa, We are home again now - and just wanted to thank you for the amazing time we had at your wonderful place! Great spot, great people, great talks, and great swimming/diving exercise for our little ones. And we watched some very lovely shooting stars from your garden! Whenever you or your kids want to come to Berlin, text us! We hopefully can arrange something. Love, Nike and Frederik”
“We have just returned home after spending 3 days at Villa Michaela. When we arrived we were absolutely surprised and delighted with this property. We travel extensively and I must say that this is one of the most romantic & beautiful villas we have visited. The grounds are magnificent with a huge swimming pool & lovely gardens. The 19th century villa is so interesting with beautiful antiques, nooks & crannies to take one’s eye and furnished with period pieces. There is a beautiful chapel, quite large and perfect for weddings or any other religious event. Obviously the owner has furnished the villa with love and care over quite some years. The main dining room with its 3 magnificent chandeliers is quite spectacular. The ensuited bedrooms are large with a king size bed, are comfortable and open onto a large sitting room complete with a piano and an open fireplace. Every room has a view over the Tuscan landscape. Breakfast was served in a huge breakfast room by Sandra & was very pleasant. We were most appreciative when we were the only guests on one morning the whole breakfast smorgasbord was still set up and waiting for us.The staff were very knowledgeable, truly delightful and were attendant to our every need. We couldn’t recommend Villa Michaela more highly and are looking forward to our next visit already.”
