About our home

Our apartment is situated in one of the most desirable hilltop towns in Umbria, with History, beauty and delicious local foods and wines all locally sourced.
The views from all around this little gem of a town are stunning! From the mountains of the Appenines in the background, to the rolling green hills of farm lands and woods, vineyards and fields of golden sunflowers, it boasts everything you could want. We are very much immersed in the very centre of the "Green Heart of Umbria"!

In the town are numerous restaurants and bars that are all walkable, no car needed in town! Banks, pharmacy, clothing, shoe and cashmere shops etc are all here on your doorstep.

We also boast one of Italy’s most intact and beautiful mediaeval piazzas, surrounded by grand mediaeval palazzos. There is even an underground Roman cistern underneath the main piazza to explore!

During the warmer months there are numerous festivals, musical events, markets and food festivals (sagre) in Todi and the surrounding towns. Perugia has its famous jazz festival, and Spoleto the “Festival of 2 Worlds”, with plays, opera and concerts etc.

Our apartment is situated in a lovely palazzo from the 15th century, on the second floor. We are only a few minutes walk up to the main piazza.

Gorgeous and comfortable, the apartment was totally renovated 2 years ago. With all new wiring and heating, we have decorated and furnished our little piece of heaven in a sympathetic yet updated style to reflect our early 1500’s apartment, using locally sourced furnishings.

A few steps out of our door we have a large terrace with stunning views over 2 of the most beautiful churches of Todi.
From here you can gaze out to the rolling green hills, woods and farms that surround us. and supply us with zero kilometres fabulous fresh food and wine!

Local Sightsightseeing:
There are numerous day trips to many other historical lovely towns, all around 35-45 minutes drive, such as Perugia, Spoleto, Assisi, Spello, Orvieto, as well as Lago Trasimeno (scene of Hannibals's battle ) or Lago Bolsena: both lakes are swimmable and have numerous good fresh fish restaurants.

Rome is only 1.5.hrs south and going north is Florence 2 hrs or Siena 1.5 hrs.

For even more , there are the famous wine towns of Montefalco and Bevagna, only 40 mins away, and the spectacular Marmore falls, the only falls that stop and start, due to Roman ingenious engineering.
Cashmere is also one of the many local products and available in several outlets around.

As we are in wine territory, there are numerous vineries where you can have tastings, from 10 to 45 mins away, surrounded by stunning scenery.

Local Restaurants: Ristorante Umbria, Osteria delle Valle, Pane e Vino, Ristorante and Pizzeria Cavour, plus many more!
Out of town : there are some excellent restaurants : Le Relais Todini, Roccafiore Spa, Resort Restaurant and Winery, both about 10 mins drive.

Shopping :
Collevallenza Mall, for several top labels as well as Zara, H & M, Designal.
Perugia home of Bacci chocolate, and excellent fashion shops.
Cashmere outlets, and shoe outlets are close.

More about us

  1. We're an active, retired couple in our mid 60's. We love travelling to new places, and have been to many. Not Europe in the winter, please.

  2. We're looking at 2019/2020 now. We love local cuisine and wines, history, walking, and are passionate about all things Italian. We speak pretty decent Italian.

  3. We are fairly open to suggestions, as we also have a home in Italy, so our home in Sydney is available for approx 6 months /year.
