The apartment is on the ground floor of a two-floor building block with seven apartments. The apartment itself has two floors: a ground floor with a large open plan kitchen/living room/dining room, a study (with a big blackboard) and a guest room with its own ensuite bathroom; then the basement has the other two bedrooms, a laundry room and a common bathroom.
The apartment has a large balcony and a garden with amazing views over the Adriatic and wonderful sunsets most days of the year.
The apartment is easily reachable with public transport and is about 5 minutes walk from the bus stop. It is also ten minutes walk away from the seafront in the neighbourhood of Barcola, where in the summer you can sunbathe and swim in the sea, as well as drink Aperol Spritz by the sea:-)
We are an international couple, Stefano is Italian and lives in Trieste, and Nindi is Indonesian and lives in Oslo. Stefano is a mathematician working in Chaos Theory at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy, whose mission is to promote science in developing countries. Nindi is a Linguistic at the university of Oslo and speaks a bunch of languages!
We both love to travel and have been to many countries both together and separately. Stefano's two daughters both study in the Netherlands so that is a favourite destination these days.
Barcola is the seaside resort of Trieste and in the summer packed with people of all ages enjoying the sun and the sea. Also has a small 'pineta", a wooded area with some kids playground and an outdoor gym area. There are a several kiosks and bars and restaurants in the area but downtown Trieste is just 15 minutes away by bus . Trieste is a relatively non-touristic city though it is becoming increasingly popular and is often on the Guardian and other lists of the best "alternative" city breaks in Europe. It is has an interesting history reflected in its architecture and an insane number of bars and restaurants.
Trieste is. also very close to several tourist caves in Slovenia and in just 2-3 hours drive you can be either on the beaches in Croatia or in the Dolomites.
