““Villa Casella” was by far the best of the many swaps we did up to now. Annette was quick to agree, very easy to communicate with, and precise and detailed in all her explanations. The beauty of the place, a real flowery jewel nestled in the green Umbrian hills, is beyond words. You hear only birds chirping, the occasional sheep bleating, and the breeze whispering through the olive trees. A stone path lined with rosemary and lavender leads to the pool, a real blessing in the summer heat, with a jasmine pergola offering a perfumed retreat in the shade. The water quality is impeccable, and the view breathtaking at all times of day. A superkind factotum, who did not only answer all our questions, but also bring us fresh vegetables from his fruit garden, oversees the villa daily. A housekeeper came at mid-stay and at the end, relieving us from the burden of locking up the house when we left. The garden is also an almost infinite source of nice corners where to sit and sip a cap of coffee, or a glass of wine. The good taste of Annette pervades everything, from the symmetrical colour gradient in flower arrangement, to the choice of furnishing fabrics and typical Tosco-Umbrian furniture. Needless to say, the villa is equipped with everything one could possibly need, in the kitchen as well as in the bedrooms. We needed to rest, so we chose to enjoy the paradise 24/7, but the surrounding area has a lot to offer, with many towns rich in art, antiquities and shopping opportunities. You will need a car however, as the place is isolated and about 12km (7.5mi) from the nearest supermarket. Overall, I am in desperate need of a sixth star to rate this swap! Thank you Annette! ”
Annette's reviewsAs a host (8)
“I didn’t make the trip myself, the exchange was for my brother and his family. They were raving about the time they spent at Annette’s villa. The views, space, decors and landscape around the house are exquisite. The care taker of the villa was very kind and caring. Annette was such a kind and accommodating host. May be some days I will get a chance to stay there myself. Thank you Annette for sharing your amazing villa with my family.”
“Very nice, easy swap. Happy travels!”
“Amazing people. Both Annet and her husband were so helpful with everything we needed and much more. We loved the house and the location. It was a perfect Italian vacation for me and my family and we can't wait to go back.”
“The stay at Casela was very memorable. We wouldn't be in this part of Italy if it weren't for the swap. We did day trips to nearby towns but would recommend to just stay in the house and enjoy the scenery. The house is very well decorated with host's personal collections and well equipped for a comfortable stay. Thank Annette for the stay !”
“Big quiet house in one of Umbria's most quiet and green area. If you love flowers and nature, do not hesitate.”
“The Villa is located in a remote spot of Umbria and has breathtaking views and property, with olive, cherry, apricot and other trees and beautiful flowering gardens all around the property. The house is lovely with old world charm and the separate cottage is absolutely adorable. Our family of 12 all enjoyed the week and especially looked forward to the sunsets from the backyard and the beautiful infinity pool at the edge of the hills. As lovely as any view we have ever seen in our world travels! Annette is an approachable owner and was very anxious to please. The only thing we missed was an American coffee pot but learned to make coffee, Italian style! ”
