About our home

Our family home is situated in Campiello del Sole - a quiet square with a popular pizzeria, a handmade shoe shop and a blacksmith. It is a very picturesque area and the supermarket, Rialto fruit, fish and veg markets, pharmacy, gelateria, wine shops, best bars, restaurants are all within walking distance.

More about us

  1. I'm a NZ'er. I was born in Waiuku. I have been living in Venice for more than 20 years. I am looking for accommodation for my daughter and myself, in Auckland for a period of 2 and a half months from mid-June to August 31.

  2. I need to have the use of a car.

  3. In return I can offer our home to you for a 2 month period (July and August) this year in 2021 (which may not be feasible due to COVID restrictions) or in 2022. If the pandemic is still causing grief in 2022, the offer will stand for the following year. A car is not available.

Where is it?

Fresh vegetables, fresh fish, fresh fruit at the markets. Lots of nice squares in the area. Good neighbours. Friendly residential area. Churches on most corners. Bars and restaurants on all corners. Beautiful palaces. Lots of shops. Good water bus services nearby.

Buzzy restaurants
Many - I'll leave a list
Cool bars
The Rialto area is full of chic little bars. Again, I'll leave a list.
Cozy cafés
They're on the list.
Retail therapy
Fondaco dei Tedeschi has just opened up at Rialto. The old post office has been turned into an enormous department store with the most important brands on sale.
Bit of culture
A lot. Suggestions are given on my list.
Walks in the park
Best walks are around the Zattere, over to the Giardini, out to the Islands in the lagoon and along the beach on Lido Island.
Spot of exercise
Walk, walk, walk around the city. Run out to Sant'Elena. Go to Lido Island for a swim in the Adriatic.
Day tripping
Verona, Treviso, Padua, the Dolomites, Lake Como. Retail therapy (Armani, Jeckerson, Gucci, Prada...) at the Noventa shopping complex: discount clothing, shoes and accessories.
