Where is it?

The flat is in a lovely area of the city center of Venice named san Polo. It is located besides Rialto bridge (50 meters), just 1 min walk from Rialto Mercato (line1) and 5 min from Rialto (Line 1 and 2) water-bus stop.

There are plenty of restaurants in Rialto, but most of them are crowded of tourists and very low quality.
Here's a selection of restaurant I suggest:
-Restaurant Oniga, in "Calle Lunga de San Barnaba, 2736".
-Ristorante Antico Pizzo, in "Calle S. Mattia, 814"
-Enoteca Al Volto, in " Calle Cavalli, 408"
-Enoteca Mascareta, in "Calle Lunga SAnta Maria Formosa, 5183"
-Trattoria alla Madonna, in "Calle della Madona, 594". Also very close to the flat
-Osteria della Vedova in Sestriere Cannareggio, 3912
-Ristorante Algiubagio in Fondamenta Nuove, Canareggio 5039
-Do Forni, in Calle dei Specchieri, 468
-Ristorante Terrazza Danieli, in Riva degli Schiavoni 4196. It has a beautiful terrace.
-Osteria Da Fiore, in San Polo 2002
The last four are very expensive, but very good.

A very nice cafe is Caffe Vergnano, in Campo San Giacomo in Rialto. Very close to the flat. On the back there are some seats with a view on Canal Grande.

You can find the best gelato at Grom, there are several in Venice. The closest to the flat are in San Polo 3006 and in Carareggio 3844. Also Gelateria Venchi (Calle Redivo 989) is good.
Pasticceria nobile (in Cannaregio 1818) is great for a salty paste, like a small pizza. You have to try it.
Very good pastry is at Marchini in Calle de S. Luca 4598.

In Venice there is an old tradition called cicchetti. There are some bar/restaurants in Venire (almost exclusively frequented by locals) where you can drink a glass of wine and eat the typical Venetian food in small plates, usually without sitting down but standing on the main counter. I do it quite often with my friends
-Osteria All'Arco, in Sestiere San Polo, 436. Very close to the flat.
-Bacarando in Corte dell'Orso, in San Marco 5496
-Osteria al Portego, in "Calle della Malvasia 6014
-Osteria della Vedova in Sestriere Cannareggio, 3912
-Osteria Bancogiro, in Campo San Giacometto, 122
