About our home

Our charming 1950s-furnished flat is situated in Voghera, Lombardia, a small town untouched by tourism and authentically Italian. We are 55 km from Milan, at a railway crossroads ideal for travel in the North of Italy (Pavia, Certosa di Cantu', Grazzano Visconti, Cremona, Mantova, Bergamo, Lake Garda, Lake Como, and Genova). The region is full of castles, 15th century cathedrals, monasteries, museums, and vineyards to enliven your stay with the tastes and majesty of Italian culture. The flat is a 5 minute walk from the town centre, and even closer to the train station, from which you can conveniently travel across Italy in comfort and style.

We are a couple (Italian and American) that works in the nonprofit/consultancy/academic/journalism sectors and we often travel around the world to do research and fieldwork for extensive periods. We love to host people and friends from everywhere in the world, and would be happy to provide tips on how to have a true Italian experience and live 'la dolce vita". We know and will divulge local spots for the best espresso, traditional pizza, and folkloristic festivals (especially if you come during the summer).

This is a great destination if you love walking, trekking, biking or motorbiking in the hills and mountains. The area surrounding Voghera is named Oltrepo' Pavese, which is the third largest area in the world for the production of Pinot Noir, after Champagne and Burgundy, and the first in Italy with more than 3,000 hectares of vineyards! We can recommend different itineraries that go through medieval towns and vineyards where you can relax, drinking the different varieties local red sparkling wine ("frizzante") or have a wine cellar tour. Renting a car or motorbike, such as a Vespa, would be ideal for exploring the area.
