“We spent two weeks in Scott's nice and clean apartment and highly recommend it. It is conveniently located for visiting Tokyo and its surroundings such as Kamakura or Hakone as well as Japanese Alps where we found out very nice hiking spots. Scott is a very welcoming and helpful host who provided us lots of advises and documentations, leaflets and so on regarding restaurants in the surroundings and various activities during our stay.”
Scott's reviewsAs a host (3)
“Scott is an unusually thoughtful and delightful person and it felt as if we got to know him personally just from the email exchanges before we even arrived in Tokyo. The apartment is exceptionally neat and cozy and it soon felt like our home. It is only a very, very brief and pleasant walk from one of the stations on Tokyo's extensive transportation systems. When we arrived Scott had baked a wonderful, big loaf of home-baked bread for us that we enjoyed during our stay. A delightful surprise that we appreciated. He also gave us lots of hints in advance on how to travel from the airport to his apartment and then on how to travel from there to other places. We can wholeheartedly recommend this exchange.”
“Scott is a great host. My husband and I with our 3 children felt at home during the 15 days we spent in Japan. The house is really clean and comfortable, just a 2 minutes walk to the train station. The neighbourhood is really safe and Scott indicated us a lot of restaurants and place to go! I will definitely recommend Scott for another home swapping. ”
Where is it?
The flat is a good base for sightseeing. The excitement and history of downtown Tokyo are an easy 20-minute train ride away. The peaceful, rural foothills of the Japanese Alps and "old Japan" are 45 minutes away on the same train line in the other direction. That area is good for hiking. A wonderful village of historic homes and business is not far by bus or taxi. By rail, Yokohama and Kamakura can be reached within 90 minutes, Hakone in 2 hours and Mt. Fuji, 3 hours. Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima are within 3-6 hours by high-speed train (shinkansen). The train station is only two blocks from my flat. Tokyo has one of the world's best and safest transportation systems, so a car is not necessary.
Grocers, convenience stores, and restaurants are nearby. The building tenants are very friendly and helpful. All speak fluent English; most also speak Japanese.
