About our home

Our home is a renovated futon exhibition structure with traditional Japanese craftsmanship and upgraded function for modern conveniences. We are located in the very center of the village tucked in a corner a minute walk from the bus station and also our block onsen just a few steps away.

Ground floor has a salon with piano, sofa and woodburning stove, and there is a games room with ping pong table and full bath, separate toilet and washbasin for guests. The second floor has a large living with sofa and tv/chromecast and dining room open to full kitchen, master bedroom with western king bed ensuite shower and sunroom, and a study room that can be used as extra bedroom with futon beds on the tatami flooring. The third floor is loft-style attic where a large kids bedroom with two single beds and a smaller kids bedroom with a double bed, as well as a play / reading area and small guest room with single futon bedding. We have a 5-seat small car available for running around the surrounding area for day trips etc, and a few bicycles.

We have a large backyard area and the house backs on to the small village park. Cafes, restaurants, shopping, onsen bathhouses, temples, and the resort activities (winter Dec-first week in May, summer July/Aug) are all within a few minutes walk. All of the winter sports, myriad trails, cycling and mountain bike, water sports on the local lake Hokuryu and Chikuma river, cultural activities and festivals, and great local cuisine are all to be enjoyed in the area. Nagano city is about 40 minute drive and the Japan Sea is about 40 minutes in the other direction. By Shinkansen you can get into Tokyo in less than 2 hours and going the other way to Kanazawa also under 2 hrs from Iiyama station which is a 15-20 minute drive from our home.

We are glad to help you find out what activities are available during your desired travel period and support with local knowledge and bookings as necessary.
