About our home

Situated on a spectacular beach at the north end of Kuruwitu in the Vipingo area of Kilifi District, the house enjoys lovely views and gentle breezes. It is tastefully furnished, very comfortable and has a large mature garden with direct access to the white sandy beach and the warm azure sea. There is a beautiful infinity pool in front of the main house.
There are two housekeepers, both of whom can do some cooking and prepare salads etc. A driver is available to help with shopping. There are three gardeners and a night security guard. I have a large very friendly Rottweiller called Loita, so dog-lovers are especially welcome.

The main house: Upstairs there is a large double master ensuite bedroom with outside deck terraces offering fantastic views. This bedroom has a fan but no air conditioning. There are two other twin (beds are pushed together but can be separated) ensuite, air conditioned, bedrooms on this floor.

Just to the side of the house is a charming guest house with a Lamu style large double bedroom and a smaller room to the rear – both ensuite and both with fans and air conditioning.

There is wi-fi but guests need to buy airtime from Safaricom and log on to choose a bundle they wish to purchase with the airtime. Safaricom scratch cards are easily available including at the closest villages.

The sitting and dining areas are quite big with sliding glass doors opening out from the former, on to a veranda and the pool. There is a library area with a large number of books.

More about us

  1. I am retired and my wife died relatively recently and so I now travel frequently to visit friends and family around the world. Pauline was extremely artistic and her great sense of style is reflected in the house which we built together.

  2. I enjoy wind surfing, snorkeling, fishing, and walking in the wilderness,

  3. Looking for swaps both large (to share with family) and small (for when I am traveling alone)

Where is it?

The Kuruwitu area has some of the last unspoilt beaches on the Kenyan coast. There are no tourists or beach boys. We are also just a couple of kilometres from The Kuruwitu Marine Conservancy where the snorkelling is good, just metres off the shore. - There is a glass bottom boat as well as a fishing/dolphin spotting boat for hire.

Activities: A two-man Canoe is available to use.
If you can bear to drag yourself away from the fabulous pool and beach - the world class Vipingo Ridge PGA golf course is less than a 15 minute drive away. The elegant club house has a restaurant in a beautiful setting. The Vipingo Ridge Beach Bar just a couple of kilometres from the house overlooks the marine conservancy and affords a delightful setting for lunch. Kilifi is a bustling little town 25 minute drive to the North. A supermarket and others shops can be found here, and dhows can be hired for Sundowner trips up the creek from here. Diving, sailing and water-ski-ing is available at Mnarani Club, on the south side of Kilifi creek. Malindi is just over an hours drive Northwards.
Head 25 minutes south, from the house and you will reach Mtwapa town which has a few restaurants and tourist activities. The Bamburi Nature trail is 45 minutes from the house as is the Citi Mall shopping complex. Old town Mombasa (Fort Jesus etc) is approx a one hour drive south from the house.
