My Scandinavian-inspired apartment is a cozy place with 1 spacious bedroom/living room, a balcony (11th floor), and a convenient bus flow to the city (20 mins a way) nearby, plus a great grocery store just downstairs! The Baltic sea is reachable within 1 hour from my house, or in 40 minutes by car. The nearby resort city is called Jurmala, and it is oh so worth the visit!
Latvia's capital city Riga is a hidden gem one must explore! Riga is known for its diverse cultural background, spectacular Jugenstil (Art Nouveau) architecture, its Hansa-City (The Hanseatic League) status and strong ties to German and Swedish history, vibrant festivals and events all year round, and so much more! Also, Riga Old Town is a member of the UNESCO, and there is so much to see! Riga's cultural events (i.e. The National Opera), cute German houses across the Old Town, local restaurants, busy bars are attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists all year round, as Riga International Airport is the Baltic hub with vast range of international flights daily.
Useful fact - in 2018, Latvia will celebrate its 100th anniversary! So much fun and celebration ahead, one must not miss! The National Song and Dance festival (also in the UNESCO)... I cannot wait to see it!
As a local, I absolutely love my city and can guarantee that you will fall in love with it too... or come and see for yourself what you find the most memorable! :)
