More about us

  1. Ruby and myself are a married couple in our 60’s. I am a doctor, semi retired, so I can now enjoy doing what I like to do, but never had the time for it before. We are very active and enjoy traveling, including motoring abroad. We are interested in art, architecture, music, history, and archeology. We also love the countryside, mountains, and rivers, and taking long walks in these places. Ruby enjoys shopping.
The apartment is kept specifically for the use by friends and for exchange purposes, so it is possible to arrange non-simultaneous exchanges. These can be arranged for any time of the year.

Mellieha is in the northern part of the island and just 4 Km. away from the ferry boat to the Island of Gozo. The lovely old village is just about 1 Km away, on a small hill. It is full of character, with narrow streets, and an old village church. There are also some quaint old chapels. In the village there are many shops, restaurants, two banks, car hire garages, etc. Within a distance of 5 Km there are 4 other beautiful bays, which are excellent for swimming, sailing, paragliding, diving, water skiing, and various other water sports. Other sports in the vicinity are tennis, horse riding, and golf. The area is ideal for people who enjoy walking, as there are long walks in the beautiful surrounding country side.
The capital, Valletta, is only about 15 Km away and can be reached by car or by public transport. Other interesting places worth visiting and within easy reach, are the several prehistoric Neolithic temples, a Roman villa, and several other places of historical and archeological interest.
The fortifications built by the knights of Malta after 1566, to protect the island and its harbours are really interesting as well as beautiful. In Valletta there is a Cathedral, several Baroque churches built by the Knights, several interesting museums, including an armory of the Knights. Malta is a haven for lovers of art.
Mdina - the quaint old capital of Malta is also worth a visit. It is only a few kilometers away. It is a traffic free 16th century town, reached through a gateway, and enclosed within the bastions. It contains many baroque churches and a cathedral, and many beautiful old houses including a Norman house. It consists of many narrow picturesque streets, and from on top of the bastion walls, there is a spectacular view, from where one can see half of Malta.
The Island of Gozo is reached by a ferry, about 4 km. from Mellieha. The crossing takes about 25 minutes. It has beautiful beaches, interesting architecture, and a prehistoric Neolithic temple. In the Victoria, the capital, you can enjoy strolling about, shopping, sightseeing, and having a drink in one of the open air cafés in the piazza, while watching the world go by.

Other entertainment is supplied by various cinemas showing the latest films, night clubs, etc.
