About our home

We live in probably the best area of Malta with less than 5 min walk to the seaside and its restaurants, cafes and shops. We are a 5 min ferry ride or 15 min bus ride away from the UNESCO heritage site and capital city of Valletta. However, our side of the bay is a mix of modern shopping opportunities and old, beautiful buildings with colourful balconies. The full renovation was completed for November 2016. We have a penthouse apartment with a large and sunny terrace at the front and a smaller terrace in the shade for when the temperatures rise.

There is one bedroom plus with a large double bed. The livingroom sofa bed is comfortable for one adult and we also have a spare air mattress. We have also had a custom work desk made in the sunny living room, that fits 3-4 laptops comfortably.

We usually start our mornings by making late breakfast and then have it on the sunny balcony. There is a partial view of the blue sea and the capital city of Valletta. You also have access to the rooftop, from where the view really opens up. You can also see many maltese rooftops as far as the eye can see. Our neighbours are also wonderful people and we enjoy our chats with them very much. This is of course if you choose to do so as there is lots of privacy from the neighbours from both sides as the walls are tall. From the balcony across the street there is a partial view of ours. The building has an elevator but to get there you need to walk up about 20 steps. The bedroom has a combined aircon / heater.

There's a small convenience shop across the street. Many Malta supermarkets also stock lots of British and French produce - you even have Marks & Spencer just 10 minute walk away. We usually do our weekly big shop at one of the large supermarkets in the centre and then stock up on other produce at the smaller, local shops.

If you would like to spend the day by the pool side, within 15 minute walk there are four beach clubs to choose from. Fortina hotel club has amazing views over the bay towards the fortress city of Valletta. The sunbeds are comfortable and there is also a restaurant with the same view. Pearl Beach is very trendy and so is the music. Our favourite is the Exiles Beach Club within about 20 min walk. The clientele is local and the sunbed price is very reasonable. If you would rather not pay, why not use their bar area and comfortable sofas while you enjoy the sea view.

We have wifi and Netflix available.

We are a couple in our 30's. We both work remotely from home. I'm in online marketing and my boyfriend is a video contractor at large scale events. We feel that we have found ourselves a perfect spot to make our everyday life feel like an on-going holiday.

Buzzy restaurants
Our top two favourites in the Balluta Bay within a 10 minute walk are Piccolo Padre, where you can sit on a balcony that reaches over the sea. The food is incredible! Our second favourite also near Balluta Bay at Exiles Beach is Fresco, the chicken pesto pasta is heavenly. You sit outside under white umbrellas and enjoy the warm weather.
Cool bars
A five minute walk away is a strip of great restaurants and cool bars, however you never hear them from our apartment. We eat and have drinks at the MedAsia that does great asian food.
Cozy cafés
A few blocks down by the seaside there's an Italian restaurant and cafe that fills up with Italians at 1pm. Food and drinks are good especially made fresh at that time of day.
Retail therapy
Malta's largest shopping complex, the Point, is 15 minutes walk away by the sea.
Bit of culture
We have a partial view from our terrace of the UNSECO heritage city of Valletta. Malta is full of history, Medina is an old city with small cobblestone streets.
Walks in the park
Within 10 minutes there is a small park by the seafront where families go play in the playground and couples stroll along the strand.
Spot of exercise
Lots of great gyms are scattered within walking distance.
Day tripping
We recommend Medina, the island of Gozo, the Blue Lagoon on the Comino island and just jumping on a ferry or an organised sail. The harbour is within 10 minute walk.
