About our home

Eclectically stylish with a spacious outdoor entertainment deck which over looks the main marina channel, our villa duplex apartment has both mountain and sea views with gorgeous sunsets best enjoyed with a Pina Colada in our swimming pool. With The Black River Gorges National park at our back door and the Indian Ocean on our front doorstep, La Balise Marina in the small, bustling village of Black River on the West Coast of Mauritius is a great holiday spot for the whole family. For the energetic, the duplex is equipped with three 'plastic' canoes as well as a SUP and a short paddle up the channel will take you out to anchored yachts or onto a sandy beach for a swim. There are a number of activities available close by: if you fancy an early morning swim with the dolphins off Tamarind Bay or a sundowner out to sea, pleasure boats are available at reasonable prices and a great favourite is the hire of electric bikes for a wonderful day's riding up the Chamarel Mountain. Hikers will enjoy being within minutes of a number of scenic mountain hikes while water babies have the option of pushing off up the channel in a plastic kayak, dipping in the pool or taking a short drive to one of the beautiful local beaches. Supermarkets close by supply all the necessary groceries to whip up a meal and if you it's a barbeque you enjoy the duplex has a gas one handy. And, if even that seems like hard work a number of restaurants close by cater for all palates from traditional Mauritian cuisine to Breton pancakes and American burgers.

More about us

  1. My husband and I are retired and enthusiastic world travelers. I love to feel part of a community rather than a tourist passing through. We have a home on the beach in Durban, South Africa and commute on a regular basis to our holiday home in Mauritius.

  2. We're both sporty and love playing golf, so it's useful that within a 45 minute drive we have access to three top quality golf courses.

  3. I love architecture, design and textiles and have tried to capture the essence of Mauritian life in our island home.
