Our home is relaxing and quiet...with sounds of birds, up the hill enough for a beautiful view of the lake and mountains right behind. We live mostly on our patio that overlooks the pool with beautiful gardens of bouganvilla, jasmine, lilies, banana trees.
The house is 2 story; the master bedroom and bath are on the ground floor, with a king size bed and walk out onto the patio and pool. Upstairs there is a guest bedroom with it's own complete bathroom and balcony. Also, upstairs there is a den with a pull out double bed and attached large mirador(balcony) overlooking the pool and lake.
The house is located in a secure 7 house gated community, where the English speaking neighbors will answer any questions you may have and you will find them extremely friendly.
Although the weather is always sunny and warm, there is a fireplace in the living room and fans in all rooms. Our house has purified water throughout. The house has a maid and gardener to maintain the property.
We (Derek & Rebecca) are a retired professional couple. Derek was born in England, graduated as a civil engineer and worked and traveled all over the world before retirement some 5 years ago. Rebecca was a teacher in the USA and was born in Ohio. After retirement she worked in El Salvador as well as lived in other parts of Mexico. Rebecca has traveled extensively too.
The village of Ajijic, just 30 miles south of Guadalajara airport, is on the largest lake in Mexico.Ajijic is famous for its safety and cosmopolitan atmosphere. While Mexican life revolves around family and church, the expatriate community finds so much to do in the area, from golf, tennis, horseback riding, hiking and other sports activities, to art groups and fine restaurants.
The village of Ajijic is colorful, with a central plaza, an old church, cultural center and delightful shopping. Cobblestone streets are everywhere. A malecon (walk way) runs along the lake for beautiful sunset walks.
There are cinemas, a small theater, a bike path running along the north of the lake. We are about a mile above sea level which keeps the temperature moderate,always sunny and warm;
Guadalajara is only 40 minutes away by car, with all the shopping you might need: COSTCO, Sam's Club, Walmart, and wonderful restaurants....also PF Chang, Chili's, Australian Outback Steak House and other USA restaurant chains.
Other colonial cities are close by, for wonderful visits.
The Pacific Ocean is only three hours away.
