Ajijic is a 400 year old fishing village with cobblestone streets. The elevation is 5,000 feet. With mountains in the background and Lake Chapala below, this region has one of the best climates in the world. Average daily temperatures are in the 70's with very low humidity. Most nights a light jacket is required. Central heating or air conditioning is not required here.
The Lake Chapala area was discovered by Europeans in the 1940's and became a writer and artist's colony. It is now home to one of the largest communities of US and Canadian expats in Mexico.
We are from the United States, now retired in Mexico. As experienced international travelers we can travel at any time of year.
We will respond to all emails promptly and look forward to hearing from you.
