About our home

Welcome to Casa Punta Verde! Our multi level home is nestled on a breezy hill with a sea view. We are located in the heart of La Punta (Colonia Brisas de Zicatela). It is a quiet neighborhood popular with both local families and expatriates, 5 minutes drive south of Zicatela and 7 minutes from downtown Puerto Escondido.

There are two one bedroom apartments on the property that share the pool area and are only used by our family. During a points swap we may stay in the basement suite and will be able to welcome you and would be happy to give you local advice. In the case of a direct exchange or if we happen to be travelling ourselves, we have a lovely friend who will introduce you to the home when you arrive. Should you have any house related issues during your stay she will be available to help you. Any non-urgent questions please feel free to email us. My parents stay in the other apartment during the winter months and it is vacant during the summer.

Puerto Escondido is famous for it's world class waves. There is expert surfing in Zicatela and waves for all levels (depending on the swell) here at La Punta. We are a 5 minute walk to the beach and 7 minutes to the main (small and laid back) restaurant and shopping area of La Punta. This is where the main point break for surfing is. You have a beautiful ocean view from the 2nd and 3rd floors of the home and can see the surfers when the waves get bigger. There are also many beautiful beaches to explore nearby plus great deep sea fishing and tranquil lagoons for bird watching, paddle boarding or kayaking.

Our home has common areas for visiting, but also lots of private decks if you need to relax and unwind. The rooftop deck is great for early morning yoga, siesta hammock time, sunset drinks, or evening stargazing.

*Details of Each Floor*

On the main floor you will find...
A fully equipped kitchen with a snippet of an ocean view, partially covered outdoor dining deck with BBQ, cozy family room with loads of entertainment (TV, DVDs, wii, board games), wraparound veranda with a little potted herb and flower garden and a full bath with a bathtub.

On the second floor you'll find...
An airy office/sitting/music area with a beautiful view of the ocean, and the two bedrooms.
A spacious master bedroom with king bed and sea view with small balcony and private bathroom. There is also a small toddler bed, suitable for little kids 4-9 years old.
The large second bedroom also has a full bathroom, bunk bed with queen bed below and twin on top.

The third floor...
A large open area great for early morning yoga, sunset drinks, or evening star-gazing, and a covered hammock area with
gorgeous ocean and Sierra Madre views.

Pool area...
It has a nice shady area, a small pond with turtles and fish, and an inviting pool to cool off in. This space is shared with the two small apartments on the property. Feel free to pick fruit from the mango, starfruit and avocado trees. There is also a small herb garden in pots on the kitchen deck that you are welcome to.

Some of the things you'll find down at La Punta are:
* Organic Foods Shop
* Palapa Restaurants
* Creperia
* Fruits & Veg stand
* Convenience stores
* Surf shops
* Aussie Restaurant
* Thai Restaurant

Across the street there is a convenience store, and a block away you'll find a shady little playground, well-stocked fruits and veggies stand, town hall with a basketball court. Please stop by to visit our surfboard factory up the street.

Some of the community noises you'll hear are:
* birds chirping
* waves breaking if they're big
* tortilla car complete with music
* hot banana man's whistle as he lets off steam from his little cart (Highly recommended!)
* dogs saying hello to each other
* roosters announcing the morning
* music from the occasional fiestas at the town hall down the street

Mi casa es su casa, mi gata es su gata.

"My home is your home, my cat is your cat." We have one cat named Pearl, who is friendly but also likes to keep to herself. Unless you are allergic or have a cat phobia, she is a lovely housemate. She is an outdoor/indoor cat that sometimes lounges on the couch, but sleeps in the open decks in the evenings. We or our gardener will feed Pearl breakfast and supper so you can enjoy your vacation.
