PLEASE NOTE: An exchange based on points will be assessed a $110 USD fee. This fee is an offset to a “Friends & Family” service fee my property manager is charging me to look after my guests. Included in this fee is the cost of a deep-cleaning process that is done upon completion of your stay. Minimum nights for a points based stay is six nights.

The property is conveniently located 25 minutes from Playa del Carmen (PDC) or 15 minutes to Tulum, this provides you with the best of both worlds. PDC has become a thriving tourist destination over the past few years and offers visitors high end shopping and dining as well as night life and music. While Tulum has a more low-key vibe, but do not let this fool you. Tulum attracts high end tourists who want to dine at highly rated restaurants, enjoy the isolated beaches that are rated tops in the world, but still blend nicely into the local scene.
The available amenities are many here - first, the Tao Wellness Center (TWC) is only a five-minute walk from the condo, Here, you will find two saltwater lap pools, a gym, featuring a combination of machines and free weights. The TWC also offers various lifestyle classes (e.g. yoga & meditation). Plus, if you really want to pamper yourself, the TWC offers messages and temazcal (Mayan sweat lodge) style spa services for a reasonable price. In addition, the TWC has a small cafe to help start your day with a tasty breakfast. Secondly, in addition to staying on-site within the Grand Bahia Principe (GBP) resort, you'll enjoy access to the common areas such as pools, beach equipment, shows at the Sian Ka'an (Adults Only) & Tulum hotels. The resort, is all-inclusive, so if you would like to enjoy unlimited food and drinks - a day pass is available at a discounted price. And if you enjoy a nice round of golf, please take advantage of the discounted green fees.

A former corporate CPA happily retired since 2012. I previously lived in Chicago for 20+ years and then relocated to West Palm Beach just a few years before I officially retired. I now spend my time throughout the year going back and forth between Florida and Mexico.
When I was looking at retirement spots - Mexico was not even on the radar screen. By chance, I was attending a conference in Cancun and was offered an opportunity to extend my stay and check-out this new community being built called Tao. Since then, I have never looked back. There is something truly special about this area! It offers a sense of serenity & tranquility not commonly found in most places. And while I am not exactly a New Age disciple, I do however strongly believe in "positive energy" and this place has it in droves!!
I prefer to visit warmer locals but as I grew up in the Midwest, I can still appreciate and enjoy the wonderment a change in seasons can present.
Tao is a gated community located within the Grand Bahia Principe (GBP) resort. This resort encompasses over 700 acres and contains four hotels - Sian Ka'an, Tulum, Coba & Akumal. There is a free shuttle service available that will transport you throughout the resort complex. You can connect with this shuttle at the Tao Wellness Center (TWC) during operating hours. Otherwise to take full advantage of seeing everything possible - I would recommend renting a car. Or you can catch a taxi that are plentiful at GBP hotels. A final option, is to try out the local public transportation (collectiveo) that run on the main highway (Carretera Federal 307) between PDC and Tulum. You would just need to walk over to the highway from the condo (a 12-minute walk) and hail one down.
