“Sandra's casa is exquisite. The design and furnishings are so beautifully done, with the high bovida (?) ceilings, art and decor. Sandra was a wonderful communicator and her staff and the neighbours made us feel welcome and at home. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and we loved being so central to everything we love about SMA. We were near our favorite cafes and were able to play music at our local bars like we've done for years. It was indeed a treat. Thanks so much Sandra!”

About our home
Our home represents an unmatched value for properties in the historic center and the points required to swap reflect an adjustment because of construction which is now limited to finishing interiors in 1 house 3 houses away from us.
Our beautiful home is centrally located on Zacateros Street within the gated development of La Fuente, and is just a short walk to the town square, also known as the “Jardin”, the heart of San Miguel's historic center, surrounded by great shopping and fantastic restaurants.
On the first floor is one of two master suites as well as a study and powder room. Both of these open to an interior courtyard which has a tranquil fountain and seating area.
On the second floor is the living room with tall dramatic, hand-stenciled ceilings and a large fireplace. French doors open to an outdoor sitting area. Enjoy brunch or dinner al fresco among the bougainvillea and jacaranda trees while listening to the songbirds or eat inside in the formal dining room with fireplace. Off the dining room is a bright and sunny fully-equipped kitchen as well as laundry services.
Further up on the third level is a lovely second master suite with fireplace and ample closet space. Finally, on the fourth floor is a large rooftop patio. Reserve at least one night to enjoy sunset cocktails as dusk sets in and the magical city lights come to life.
Just a few steps away is a the pool and jacuzzi, ideal for unwinding and taking a break from the busy streets of El Centro. Truly a peaceful oasis right in the heart of this four hundred year old town. The pool area has been fully renovated and looks better than ever.
The courtyard/garden has an entrance onto a private driveway giving you easy access for unloading groceries and luggage.
Smoking is only permitted in outside areas (roof, terrace and courtyard).
Children of older age are welcome, however we discourage little ones due to the large stone staircase that does not have a handrail.
no pets are allowed.
We require a Security deposit of $500, refundable one week after check out and once we have verified the condition of the home. In addition a $150 fee is required for cleaning, check in and check out and 7days a week assistance from our Management company.
Housekeeping is once a week.
Our preference would be to swap houses for Hank and I alone or on occasion with our daughter, her husband and 2 kids, however this would be rare especially if we swap internationally.
Within the USA we are interested in swapping for homes in California, i.e., Santa Barbara, La Jolla, Del Mar, Palm Springs, Carmel and internationally we are open for ideas.
We look forward to welcoming you to our home!

“Pinch me please! We had a great two weeks at Sandra and Hank's amazing home right in the historic center of San Miguel. The house is luxurious, spacious and comfortable. I know it will sound trite, but the pictures really don't do it justice. We especially enjoyed having wine and snacks on the sunny rooftop terrace with its panoramic views of the city. And the house is surprisingly quiet, given its central location just steps away from the bustling plaza principal (aptly named El Jardin) and all kinds of great restaurants and shops . Sandra was also a great communicator.. She's a local and gave us lots of excellent recommendations about where to eat and what to see. No need for a car here - everything you could want is within a five minute walk. Taxis are abundant and cheap. Sandra also recommended an excellent driver for our trips outside the city, including some outstanding local wineries and the beautiful desert-like botanical gardens. Her communications with us before, during and after our stay were unequaled, giving thoughtful answers to any questions we had and proactively giving us advice about what to see and do. San Miguel is everything the travel writers say it is. It's a happening , beautiful colonial city, safe and welcoming. Our stay at Sandra and Hank's exquisite home was the icing on the cake. Thank you both for such an enjoyable swap experience!”
“Exceptional from start to finish. This is an AMAZING property in San Miguel's best neighborhood. Upon arrival, we wandered from room to room in a state of awe. It is a stunning house located within five minute walking distance to the heart of the town. it is also incredibly quiet which is rare in a lively town such as San Miguel. We watched hummingbirds from the large outdoor terrace and listened to the morning doves. Can't thank Sandra enough for her thoughtfulness and easy communication. Our recommendations would be to eat at Raices (en-route to the incredible City Market for groceries) or Rustica. Treat yourself to a coffee or cocktail at the Rosewood Hotel and walk the manicured grounds and have another drink at the Institute de Allende's courtyard. If Sandra agrees to your swap, you are in for an incredible treat. 5-stars all around from us!”
“Magnificent home in a magical city. We walked throughout the city center both day and evening without the slightest feeling of possible danger. Sandra is very attentive to every detail to make a swapper’s experience wonderful.”
“Our 6 day stay at Casa Kallio offered us the unique opportunity to experience the Day of the Dead festivities and the vibrant pulse of SMA right in the heart of Centro. We were within a 4 minute stroll to the Jardin and the Parroquia passing by the best restaurants, attractions, art galleries and boutique shopping. The home itself is sumptuous showcasing baroque colonial architecture details - carved stone fireplaces, high boveda ceilings, soaring archways and stone and iron details. We enjoyed the expansive outdoor spaces which includes a rooftop terrace with 360 degree views of the entire city- a great place to watch the fireworks at night or witness the hot air balloons early in the morning. We can’t say enough about this wonderful haven, the only downside is the strong temptation to stay in this deluxe home rather than explore SMA. We are grateful to Sandra and Hank for hosting us and already looking forward to a possible next visit.”
“Sandra has a beautiful home with a fantastic location but it is still quiet and peaceful at night. The design and décor are exceptional. It was a privilege to stay at her home. Sandra is a very gracious host and we had a delightful swap. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to visit San Miguel which is a charming colonial town. ”
“Lovely location and a great home. Great communication and perfect place for a San Miguel stay. Highly recommend. ”
