Altogether, we have five bedrooms, an office, art studio, small adjoining quarters, eight baths, two half-baths. On the second level, there are three bedrooms, all with separate baths, also an office and my art studio/bath, the latter of which will be closed to guests, [containing our stored stuff] The lower level has a suite of two adjoining bedrooms, with one bath and a sitting room [tv] There is a passageway which separates the main house [bedrooms, dining and living room] with the kitchen and a small adjoining bedroom/bath that my sister lives in. Included with the house are two daily maids and a gardener. There is also a double garage with a big room/bath above where I lead art groups and yoga. Our pool is solar-heated. We own a double lot, the lower [south] lot is separate, where our dogs [which are cared for by our gardener] are kept and where we also have a garden. Our lot goes from one street to the other, i.e., a block long. Because of the consistly great climate, the best in the world besides someplace in Kenya, we are outside much of the time, entertaining, therefore, our large upper and lower verandas are in constant use. A prevailing breeze from the lake makes it even more inviting.
I am an artist, my husband is semi-retired. When we decided to try living in another country, we searched out many places and finally decided on Mexico, due to its proximity to Texas and, since I was born here, [although raised in Texas], I speak fluent Spanish. We needed to be close to an airport, have DSL available, and wanted a good climate...I was tired of air-conditioning and heating. The people are all very friendly and helpful.
Fabulous weather all year round!!Funky Mexican town on a beautiful lake, the largest in Mexico....which can be seen from our upper veranda to the south, which is only two blocks from our house...the mountains are seen to our north. Ajijic was once a small fishing village, and now is inhabited by many expats, mostly North Americans....but, since we are in the village, we feel we are in the heart of Mexico...[most Gringos live on the mountainside]...we walk everywhere.... restaurants, markets, plaza, etc. We are only 35 minutes and a $30 [US[ cab ride from the airport.
