I have a Spacious, Open, Quiet Home, great to relax, with lots of things to do close by. Shop in Leon, visit the romantic city of Guanajuato, tour San Miguel de Allende.
The house 2600 square foot (250 square meter) home on a 8,500 square feet (800 square meters) Lot. It is a simple one-story layout with a huge hallway dividing the house in half. There are huge windows throughout the house, I never use the lights during the day.
There are three large bedrooms. The First bedroom has its own bathroom. The Second Bathroom also has its own bathroom and also functions as an office. We have a wireless highspeed internet access available or you can connect directly to the modem
Kitchen is new in modern style, with an oversized gas stove and oven, beautiful granite countertops and hard-wood cabinets. I don't have a microwave... but I could get one if necessary. I love to cook, so I have lots of kitchen appliances and accessories.
There is oversized tile throughout the house. And it is well-insulated, so there is no need for air conditioning or heating. There is a wooden swingset outside if you have kids.
It is safe to walk around the neighborhood. We are right on the edge of the countryside, so it is common to see hare, rabbits, birds, and even heards of goats! Some neighbors have horses and chickens. This developement is still very undeveloped and most lots have no construction. I have a nice view of the hills and mountains out of the side of the house. Most people use these residences just during the weekend or vacation. There is also a small man-made lake within walking distance.
Only about 5-10 kilometers down the road from our developement are thermal hotsprings. There is an area that you can go to that has some simple baths with a stream flowing through them and there is no charge. Or there are hotel/spa and waterparks that are also nearby.
Leon is the closest large city and is just minutes away. They are Mexico's #1 producers of leather goods. Lost of purses and jackets, shoes, boots, etc. And all the modern stuff like shopping, theaters, museums, clubs, parks, etc. Parque Metropolitano is great. A very small entrance fee will provide you with picnic areas, several playgrounds, a dammed lake that has a 7 kilometer track around it for bicycling or jogging.
The city of Guanajuato is 30 minutes away. It is one of my favorite places to go for a day trip. Its is a romantic city with historical and cultural events and sites. It is an old mining town with narrow streets and LOTS of tunnels. It has something for everyone. Clubs, art, museums, restaurants, shopping, mummies, and there is even a castle if you drive a little bit past Guanajuato.
San Miguel is less than 2 hours away and is a population of 40,000 with about 10,000 Americans (mostly retirees). There are tons of museums and galleries here. Some absolutely beautiful elegant hotels in the area and eclectic restaurants.
Guadalajara and Mexico City are a 3-hour drive
Closest beaches are a 6-hour drive through mountains and agave fields...beautiful!!
My husband and I are in late twenties and have 3 boys (5 years, 3 years, and 8 months). I stay at home with my kids and my husband travels alot for work and has flexibility in where he can work from and vacation dates. We love to travel, but have to be very careful with our budget (not a lot of room for luxuries!) We love reading, the outdoors, tennis, and I dabble with art.
We have no pets, but our house is pet friendly. We don't smoke either, but I would allow smoking in the house. I have family in California, Texas and Arizona, so would consider swapping for these areas. I had a problem selecting my destination, so that's why I'm including it here.
Also I'm looking for a place in Madrid for just two nights (May 11th and May 20th, 2009) I don't mind if it is small, I'm just looking to save on hotel cost...it would be 4 adults and 3 small children.
