About our home

This recently refurbished duplex is a true oasis in the middle of Colonia Condesa, one of the nicest neighborhoods in Mexico city, right behind Parque España. Condesa is considered to be one of the most fashionable districts, especially among young businesspeople, artists, students and families. Its character has been compared to that of the Soho in New York and the Latin Quarter in Paris. Its avenues are wide and lined with trees. It is mostly residential but also filled with restaurants, cafés, boutiques and art galleries. Some of these shops include the Rosario Castellanos bookstore, which includes a cáfe, an auditorium theatre and a children’s room, café Lardo by one of the most renowned chefs in the city, bar Felina, and Contramar restaurant with the best seafood in the city. Most of the bars and cafes are concentrated along Amsterdam and Michoacán avenues. The area is residential (so very quiet), and only a short walking distance to all services like metro, metrobus, supermarkets, Chapultepec, Parque Mexico and Parque España parks, cinemas, shops, galleries, restaurants, bars...

The building has only 4 flats and the neighbors are friendly and respectful.

It has 2 bedrooms: main bedroom has a queen bed, and a view to the garden. This means you get to wake up to the sound of chirping birds and the sight of bougainvillea , hummingbirds and butterflies every morning! The second bedroom has a twin bed and is ideal for children. There is an extra twin bed in the living room.

The space has 2 two bathrooms, one with a bath tub in case you need to have a relaxing bath after a long day in the city, a terrace with access from the main bedroom, a small garden with a hammock and a play house, fully equipped kitchen, parking space for one car on the street, washing machine, wifi, and house cleaning three times a week

More about us

  1. We are a family with two small girls 3 and 0 (!!)

  2. Theo is an artist from Greece, and Sofia is a Book designer (and a mother) from Mexico City. We met in London while we were both living there, and decided to make Mexico City our home.... for now!

  3. We are both into art, design, architecture, and culture in general. We love the city, but cherish the peace and quiet we get in our lovely house.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Buzzy restaurants
Lardo for breakfast and coffee, Contramar for the best seafood in the city, Califa for the best tacos
Cool bars
Felina, Felix... there's lots!
Cozy cafés
Enhorabuena (across the street, has the best coffee and cakes), and Lardo
Retail therapy
Colonia Roma has some really great shops. Try Carla Fernandez, on Monterrey and Alvaro Obregón for a great new take on traditional textiles and techniques.
Bit of culture
Rosario castellanos bookshop, OMR gallery in colonia Roma, Kurimanzutto gallery in San Miguel Chapultepec, Museo Tamayo are all a walk away
Walks in the park
Chapultepec park and Parque México are only a few blocks away. Parque España (and a delicious freshly squeezed orange juice) is just behind the property.
Spot of exercise
Amsterdam Avenue is a 2km circuit used by local joggers. Also Chapultepec is great for jogging and cycling. Also on Amsterdam, there's a gym (qi) and a great yoga school (mukta yoga)
Day tripping
The house is centrally located, so everywhere you decide to go will be easily accesible. Coyoacan, San Angel and the UNAM (University) are all south and worth the trip if you're into art and architecture. The city center great, too. Don´t miss the Anthropology Museum. If you have time, go to Teotihuacán for the day.
