About our home

Our home is a mixture of courtyards, patios, terraces and gardens that are a sight to behold. The house has a large great room with living, dining and media area, gourmet kitchen with breakfast bar, master bedroom and bath. Off the great room is a large terrace with outdoor kitchen that is an extension of the interior living space. A front casita (small house) has our office, guest bath and laundry. Another casita at the back of the garden area has one bedroom, a bathroom, living room and small kitchen. Above the office is a a workout area, an studio and more sleeping space with its own full bath and a rooftop patio with mountain and lake views. Our home has been beautifully and lovingly renovated, has high speed internet, cable and satellite TV. The interior colors are warm, inviting and playful. Additionally, we have filled our home with beautiful native art and crafts to highlight all that is wonderful about Mexico. Our car may be available for a simultaneous exchange and we also have a 4-wheel ATV that is the perfect runabout while in town.

Where is it?

Ajijic is a village on Lake Chapala, the largest natural lake in Mexico. Less than an hour from Guadalajara and only 30 minutes from the airport, Ajijic is a 400 year old village with a mixture of quaint cobblestone roads and modern conveniences. Surrounded by mountains, this area has a micro-climate that maintains perfect temperatures all year around. Our neighborhood is totally walkable with good restaurants and galleries nearby. Only 1-1/2 blocks from the lakefront, there is nothing like an early morning walk on the lake to see the sun rise and the fishermen in their boats, surrounded by pelicans, egrets, cranes and more. Only 10 minutes away, there are natural hot springs that are marvelous. The community is home to a large number of Americans and Canadians, with a sprinkling of Europeans as well. Although Spanish is the language of the area, it is possible to visit and speak English in restaurants and shops without difficulty. An extra benefit of being here is travel around the Mexico. There is so much more to the country than beaches and border towns. We feel totally safe here. We know that it can be a concern for those coming down for the first time. Believe us when we say that what people read in the media is highly exaggerated. The Mexican people are warm, caring, polite, and will stop and help you without being asked.
