Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Located in the Punta Esmeralda Resort complex with every amenity one would expect in a resort. This is located in a 27 acre meticulously and beautifully landscaped development that contains condos, condo villas and homes spread discreetly throughout the development. Our condo villa has only four separate units placed so that we cannot see the other units from ours and no one can see ours. There is 24 hour security and a security gate coming into the complex. When you drive in, you get a sense of the peace that surrounds you. Amenities include 8 pools spread throughout the property, a beach club with a palapa-topped open restaurant (open 9-9) which offers both pool side service but also room service. Punta Esmeralda boasts a full-service spa with manicure and pedicure services as well as a steam room. Next to the spa is a fully eqipped gym with the treadmills and stationary bikes facing the window. The gym is kept very cool and is perfect for any sort of workout. Behind the spa and gym are tennis and Pickleball courts. The beach is on the Bay of Banderas and is generally calm and an easy place to get on a kayak and venture out. We have four kayaks and both child and adult life vests. The beach is walkable and we often walk to Bucerias (a 2 mile walk) for breakfast, collect shells and see interesting things along the way. We will see fishermen come in with a catch and sell the to the locals who watch out for them. La Cruz, is 2 miles the other way and has a world class marina and several fine dining restaurants. Also in La Cruz is a fish market with tons of different species of fish, some of which I've never seen. Almost every time I go to the fish market, someone is bringing in a humongous tuna or other very large fish. We buy our fish at the fish market because we know that the catch is from the day we bought it. There are always taxis lined up at the front of the development and a bus stop at the front of the highway, a half-block down the street. The bus will take you anywhere around town and also goes to Puerto Vallarta, about a 20 minute drive. The airport is a 15-20 minute drive and the cruise terminal is in this same area. Downtown Puerto Vallarta is not to be missed, especially the malecon with amazing more than life-size sculptures that dot the malecon. There are plenty of restaurants and touristy things to do there.

Buzzy restaurants
Marks in Bucerias - higher end; (Marisol on the beach), Encore, Italian restaurant Digiorno - owned by generations of an Italian family.
Cool bars
Sports Bar: YoYo Mas in Bucerias; Sunshine Bar, also in Bucerias
Cozy cafés
Paninos right across the highway. Order a loaf of bread to take home - best I've ever had
Retail therapy
Downtown Bucerias has some cute shops and original art and mosaic. Watch the artists at work.
Bit of culture
Every Friday in La Cruz, there are a group of dancing horses that dance around the town square. Art Walk in Bucerias every Thursday (check to find out for sure)
Walks in the park
La Cruz town square, La Cruz Marina, Walk around the 27 acre Punta Esmeralda and see many species of birds and if you get lucky, an iguana.
Spot of exercise
Rent a paddle board; kayak, tennis, Play Pickleball, pick up a yoga class
Day tripping
Puerto Vallarta (see above); Botanical Gardens are on the patio outside where you can observe butterflies , hummingbirds and the beauty of nature.
