About our home

Our house is located on a long sandy peninsula into the bay of La Paz. It is a very safe and secure gated resort community of less than 5 years of age. Our house is located on the 7th golf hole about 350 meters from the beach. The house is an open design of about 1500 ft2 connected via a walled patio to a separate casita of about 300 ft2 which functions as a separate self contained bedroom. On the back there is a large patio with an overhead pergola facing onto the golf course. The entire house as well as both the front and back patios are laid with travertine marble. The kitchen and bathrooms have granite and marble counters. All appliances are high end and there is an outdoor barbeque. The house is equipped with satellite with a wide range of US and Canadian stations including sports. There is a stereo system with an I- Pod dock. In the back the patio is surrounded by a flower garden and a lawn ideal for Bocci ball. The back yard is walled but allows for views of the golf course, the bay, the mountains, and the spectacular sunsets with its western exposure. The master bedroom and the casita are large with king beds and complete bathrooms (showers but no tubs). The second bedroom in the house has two single beds with an adjacent full bathroom.

More about us

  1. We are a retired couple in our mid to late 60's. We enjoy food and wine, sports, the theatre and the outdoors. Although we have travelled to many parts of the world in the past, more recently we spend most of time in Mexico during the winters and at our lake house in the interior of BC during the summer. This affords us a great deal of flexibility in arranging an exchange.

Neighbourhood

Paraiso del Mar is a new resort located at the end of a 20km sandspit located in the Bay of La Paz. Although there is a road into the development it is usually accessed via a 10 minute ferry service from the Malecon of the city of LaPaz. The ferry service is free for owners and guests and forms part of the charm of the resort as it is not uncommon to see dolphins and other sea life on the boat ride. The city of La Paz is an attractive small Mexican city with a long and beautiful Malecon and many fine restaurants. The city is very safe and fun to explore on foot. The resort currently consists of about 90 houses and 5 condo buildings each with 22 units. More units are anticipated in the near future. There is an 18 hole golf course which in 2009 received the award for the 3rd best new golf course outside the US and Canada as determined by Golf Digest. There is an excellent tennis facility. The beach is well in excess of 30kms long affording views of the Bay where dolphins are common and where whales are not uncommon during the calfing season. Of particular interest are the magnificent but docile whale sharks best viewed by kayak usually close to shore. The beach is wide and flat and because of the hard packed sand it is excellent for long walks , running or even cycling. There are many outdoor activities to persue in the area including fishing, diving or boating. The area has a desert climate which is almost always dry and sunny.
