About our home

Bienvenidos a México. Enter this stunning 4,000 square foot open-concept single family home by walking over water, and have your breath taken away. Our contemporary casa is full of light and drama, with two bedrooms, a sleeper sofa, 2.5 bathrooms, gourmet kitchen with pantry, patio and large garden. Enjoy your evening cooking in the outdoor kitchen, or sip a cocktail as the sun falls in the sky. The property is completely enclosed and safe. There is a king sized bed in the first floor master with a new firm mattress. The glorious glass surround shower in the master en suite allows you to bathe in the garden while remaining indoors. . The queen bedroom has a private terrace, perfect for morning coffee. While most houses in Mexico do not have air conditioning or central heating, there are both fans and heaters for your comfort. San Miguel´s climate is great for sightseeing during the day and cool enough in the evenings for restful sleeping.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the house, and two desks for work, if you so desire. The Master bedroom has Netflix and Apple TV, and the TV room has cable. The Botanical Garden is just 1/2 block away.

San Miguel de Allende is a World Heritage Site, a colonial town in central Mexico, repeatedly voted by Travel and Leisure magazine as the #1 travel destination in the world. It sits in the mountains at an altitude of 6500 ft., offering year round spring-like temperatures. It is historically significant as the birthplace of Mexican Independence, and just 1.5 hours away from Guanajuato, another colonial attraction. Mexico City is 3.5 hours away by first class comfortable bus. The closest airports are Leon (BJX) and Queretaro (QRO).

Our home is located in one of the contiguous neighborhoods to the Centro, El Pegaso, allowing easy 10 minute access via bus or car, but without all the constant noise, traffic and crowds of the Centro. Play during the day, and enjoy peace and quiet at night, the best of both worlds. There is a shopping center 5 minutes away, with supermarket and multiplex cinema. Maid service and gardener are included once per week.

We are John and Anne. John is a semi-retired board certified internist, Anne is an architectural designer who has lived in San Miguel for 16 years, during which time she has built and restored multiple luxury houses. Our home is maintained to the highest standards, and we promise to treat your property respectfully, knowing you will do the same for us. We are neat and organized people!

There is a $30USD cleaning charge per week which will be waived if swap offers similar consideration. This is a no smoking property.

Buzzy restaurants
San Miguel has become a gourmet hot spot, with both high end and more accessible restaurants. There is a fabulous Sri Lankan restaurant nearby, as well as a homey Thai restaurant. The Centro is overloaded with restaurants. Try Hecho en Mexico for a comprehensive menu to please everyone.
Cool bars
Many clubs and hip bars in the Centro. Stay away from the cantinas.
Cozy cafés
Luna de Queso, Panio, and Rustico are great for breakfast.
Retail therapy
Lots of small shops in the Centro. Try the artisan market for typical Mexican crafts, and the Fábrica Aurora for high end art and designer objects.
Bit of culture
San Miguel is the birthplace of Mexican Independence and a UNESCO World Heritage site.. Check out the Parroquia Church, and stroll through the old Centro to see all the colorful colonial houses.
Walks in the park
Juárez Park is a lovely way to pass a few hours. The main Jardin is San Miguel’s living room.
Spot of exercise
Jardin Botanical for morning or sunset events, just a two minute walk away.
Day tripping
Dolores Hidalgo, another world heritage site is an hour away. There are some lovely wineries just outside of town. Don’t miss a trip to Atontonilco, a colonial town with a world famous church.
