About our home

Our home was completed just a year ago. We choose this location because it is a 5 minute walk to the main market, 10 minutes to the Jardin (Main square) and has an absolutely stunning view into the canyon to the east and mountains and church steeples of San Miguel to the west. It has two seperate bedrooms with ensuite. The Master bedroom has a gas fireplace and balcony overlooking the canyo. Next to the master bedroom is our TV room with a sofa that converts into a single bed - ideal for a child or extra adult. It has access directly into the master bath. The guest room is at the other end of the house affording a degree of privacy - it also has an ensuite. We have an inner garden court yard and a back patio. The living room/dining room has floor to ceiling accordian glass windows on both the east and west that can be opened to create a huge indoor outdoor space. There is a first floor sitting area overlooking the courtyard for private quiet enjoyment of the sun. On the top fllor is a roof top deck with sitting area, outdoor kitchen and barbeque. It has absolutely stunning views in every direction. We have high speed internet, cell phone for guest use, cable TV (with a full range of canadian and US programing) and a vonage phone (voice over internet - low cost long distance calling). The house comes with a maid who comes twice a week and a house manager.

  1. We are both in our 50's. Dan is an ESL teacher for new immigrants and Carl is a corporate trainer who frequently works abroad. We are entering semi-retirements and are looking to explore for short or longer periods of time. We have just completed a second home in San Migel d'Allend Mexico(see listing 33776) so non simultaneous exchanges are possible.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our neighbourhood is called Colonia Azteca and is right on the border with the historic centro. It is a short walk (5 minutes) from the main market and the artisans market. Five mnutes further on is the Jardin - main square of San Miguel. It is definetly not necessary to have a car as most everything is walking distance through the cobblestone streets. Taxis are $2USD any where in the city. It is a mixed neighbourhood of Mexican and expats producing a nice community feel. (At christmas the community has a service on the street and at Easter a procession which travels right past our door. It is a safe and secure neighbourhood.
