About our home

Our architect designed home is wonderfully located to enjoy all of the amenities of San Miguel de Allende. The home is a duplex, with a one bedroom main floor and a separate studio apartment below. This listing is for the lower level studio, which enjoys a beautiful covered patio and garden. This unit can be traded alone or in combination with the upper owner's unit, which has one bedroom with terrace offering expansive views over San Miguel. The studio, if traded alone, is accessed by a stairway from the street, and is not appropriate for parties who would have difficulty climbing stairs.

  2. David is Mexican and Karen is an American ex-pat who has spent much of the last twenty years in Mexico.

  3. We love art, music and contemporary design.

Where is it?

Our home is located in the Colonia del Obraje, on the north side of town. In addition to being only a short 10-15 minute walk to the main plaza, the Jardin, we are a short 2 blocks to the Fabrica Aurora, San Miguel's center for art and design, which boasts galleries, restaurants, design shops and art classes, as well as sponsoring a monthly Art Walk.

Buzzy restaurants
In addition to the many restaurants in the immediate neighborhood, we are a short walk to the new Live Aqua hotel with several world class restaurants and great bar options.
Cozy cafés
We are fortunate to have our own little neighborhood cafe, Munro, which is a short walk up the hill and serves wonderful breakfasts and lunches.
Retail therapy
A short 5-7 minute walk will take you to the Nigromante, one of San Miguel's busiest traditional markets with everything from clothing to fruits and vegetables. Attached to the market is the traditional Artisan's market, with stalls selling all manner of Mexican crafts.
Day tripping
Our location offers easy access by car or taxi to the Salida de Dolores, the road going north from town, which will take you to the historic town of Dolores Hidalgo, where Mexican Independence was first declared. Along the way you will find charming outdoor restaurants, hot springs and wineries to explore.
