About our home

Our Mexican Modern style 5 year old home was designed by us to be a perfect retreat for one or two people. It offers light and air and views over the city of San Miguel away from the traffic and confusion of downtown, while offering is a safe and relatively flat walk to all of the ammenities of Centro.

In addition to the upper owner's unit, there is a studio apartment below which has a separate listing and which may be included in exchange, by arrangement with the owners, creating private spaces for 2 couples. Pictures of the studio are included below.

More about us

  1. We are a semi-retired couple - Karen had a 40 year career in Real Estate, and David is a professional musician and artist.

  2. David is Mexican and Karen is an American ex-pat who has spent much of the last twenty years in Mexico.

  3. We love art, music and contemporary design.

Where is it?

Our home is located in the neighborhood of Colonia del Obraje on San Miguel's north side of town. In addition to being just a short 10-15 minute walk to the main plaza of San Miguel, the Jardin, we are just two blocks from the Fabrica Aurora, San Miguel's fabulous art center which boasts restaurants, galleries and design and furniture shops and art classes, and which sponsors a monthly art walk.

Buzzy restaurants
In addition the many restaurants in the immediate area, we are only a short walk from San Miguel's newest destination hotel the Live Aqua, with several bars and world class restaurants.
Cozy cafés
We are fortunate to have cafe Muro, a perfect spot for breakfast or lunch just a block away.
Retail therapy
A short 5-7 minute walk will tKe you to the Nigromante, a traditional Mexican market where you can purchase everything from fruits and vegetables to Mexican handcrafts.
Bit of culture
In addition to all San Miguel has to offer, a car or taxi will get you easily to the Santuario Atotonilco, a world heritage site, or take the longer drive to the town of Delores Hidalgo, where Mexico first declared independence in 1810.
Walks in the park
You won't want to miss a trip to San Miguel's botanical garden, El Charco. It is a steep but doable walk there, or you may want to get a taxi up and enjoy the stroll downhill to get home.
Day tripping
Our location offers easy access by car or taxi to the Salida Dolores, where a short drive in the country will bring you to numerous restaurants, hot springs and wineries.
