About our home

San Miguel is about 6500 feet in central Mexico where the weather is perfect 90% of the year. It is an old protected colonial town which has been designated a World Heritage sight, filled with artists, musicians, writers and festivals. The town has cobblestone streets and old world architecture and charm. The people are warm, friendly, and accepting. Speaking Spanish makes the experience more fun, but you can do well if you only speak English, as there are many Northern Americans and Europeans living there. There are great restaurants and every sort of entertainment, including fine shopping.

More about us

  1. My husband and I went to visit San Miguel about 5 years ago and totally fell in love with it. We started looking for real estate the first week. We intend to spend more time there when we are both retired, but I still have a few more years to go. We're outdoor types so love the fact that it is a walking town with all kinds of options for activity including horseback riding, kayaking, rowing, or sailing on the pressa, hiking, golfing, tennis etc. There are also hot springs nearby to soak or swim in. We do use an ATV to get around town when we need transportation and have a truck for longer distances.

Where is it?

Our house was custom built to let in the beauty of the mountains surrounding and the view of the town. It is warm, comfortable and open. We are above the town and it takes about 20 minutes to walk down. If you are fit you can walk up, but many prefer to take a cab ($2.50)to return up the hill. We are right next to the magnificent Botanical Garden, with walks among the native cacti and succulents, cafe at their little restaurant, and even yoga is available. We have two terraces and a rooftop garden from which to view the glorious sunset and drink margaritas.
