About our home

Villa Habibi consists of large unique Villa built in Andalusian style with a touch of gothic cloisters, and we also have one smaller traditional house that can be booked separately, on a private plot of just under 3 acres in Chichte, off the Safi Coastal Road about 15 minutes drive from iconic Essaouira. Magnificent panoramic sea views over the open Atlantic from both the Villas which have access to a large poolside room with seating and terrace around the large heated (heating is charged for extra outside of the summer season except when we are staying in the large villa when we have it heated most of the time and don't charge guests in the Guesthouse for using it) saltwater swimming pool plus state-of-the-art Jacuzzi spa which can be heated FOC all year round. Also a huge outside terrace suitable for practicing yoga, martial arts, dance, arts activities, making music, or just playing games!

The main Villa has 5 downstairs bedrooms, 3 having en suite bathrooms and 2 with direct access to two showers and w.c.s. There's a dining room and large covered outside dining terrace, new fitted kitchen and separate utility room with all stainless steel modern appliances: large American style larder fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, built in ovens (gas and electric), large gas hob, juicers, blenders, dehydrator, and lots of gadgets! Living room and cosy snug TV/music room. Upstairs rooms are private - no access, except to roof terrace on 1st and floor level with more stunning sea views. Wood-burning fireplaces in dining and living room. Courtyards, one with fountain and koi pond. Solar hot water, mains electricity (with backup generator in case of power cuts), and gas ovens and hob.

The smaller villa has two double bedrooms and open plan kitchen (fully equipped including full oven and hob and a washing machine and large fridge freezer)/dining/living room with open fire, bathroom with walk-in shower, and outside sun terrace with a pergola and extra dining table and chairs for al fresco eating and wonderful sea views. There's also an outside store. There's also a sofa bed 'click clack' in the living area, so the house can sleep 5, and secure metal wrought iron grille surrounding fences for those who prefer that the dog on site can't come into the house. There is free Wifi on the property, but bear in mind that the bandwidth fluctuates in the countryside areas, despite having the most expensive up-to-date satellite installation and back up routers!

Plenty of room for parking and access to both houses for unloading. The garden has rockeries, young olive trees and shrubs, herbs, cactus and 9 raised beds of organic vegetables. Mustafa speaks French and some English as well as Darija/Arabic.

Set in a secure walled plot backing on to protected thuya forest, accessed by an unmade road (piste) approx. 1 km from the main Essaouira-Safi Coastal Road, about 15 minutes drive to Essaouira, and other nearby coastal towns/villages, on this lovely stretch of hundreds of miles of unspoiled golden sands. Watersports region with surfing, kite and wind surfing, sailing, beach buggies, camel trekking and horse riding. Essaouira is not only a fishing port but also a centre for the arts and crafts, local and international, with great music festivals in the summer. Lots of restaurants in the medina and beachfront cafes, fascinating souks with locally made items, excellent vegetable and fruit markets with low-cost produce, much of it organically grown, supermarkets in and on outskirts of town, with off-licence selling alcohol in Carrefour and also just outside the Medina, including local Moroccan wine, at reasonable prices.

Easy drive to mountains on all sides, centrally located along the Atlantic coast of Morocco so you can travel either North, South or East. Marrakech is about 2 and a half hours on the highway, Agadir about 3+ hours and Casablanca 4+ hours. Regular coach and bus services to all major destinations. There's a local airport with flights from Europe and, sometimes the UK. Come and enjoy a stay in this peaceful and unspoiled bit of heaven and experience the magic of Morocco for yourself!

We can also put you in touch with Meryam and Nourraman who run the most reliable and best value car rental service in Essaouira. They can arrange to meet you at any of the main airports in Morocco. Their cars are all in good condition and several are new, which is not the case for most car rental companies in Morocco.

The houses are thoroughly cleaned before and after your stay. When we have guests in the large house, basic daily cleaning is included. Both are self-catering.

More about us

  1. We have one large house and one smaller house currently available for rent and the occasional swap, generally preferring points or non-simultaneous swaps.

  2. Both houses have glorious views over the open Atlantic, it's a quiet , idyllic location for r & r. Large outdoor saltwater swimming pool (heated FOC in the peak season, outside the season if we're away, there's a charge for heating) and a jacuzzi spa with a large poolside room. Lots of outdoor space with a friendly dog (managed by the resident staff who live in another small house on the property. The smaller house is totally secured with a surrounding fence for those who don't want contact with the dog). Short drive to beaches and the gorgeous town of Essaouira with its music festivals, arts & crafts, and kite surfing. You can also walk down the escarpment to the beach and sea, about 30 - 45 minutes depending on the route you take.

The staff take care of the pool, jacuzzi, garden, and general maintenance. Nahza cleans before and after your stay but if you want daily cleaning/washing/ironing/food preparation/cooking, there's a daily charge of 10 Euros payable before your arrival by bank transfer.

  3. We run a consultancy and training business in Dubai, which we currently visit regularly, having lived in the Middle East for 15 years, our main home is now at Villa Habibi. So, sometimes we are in residence, but not all the time.
