“We spent an amazing holiday in Emma's Riad. We have never had such an experience of staying in the centre of a great Medina. We had the opportunity of observing the real life of the people as the Riad is located in a non-touristic corner full of donkey-drawn carts. We were welcome the first night by the best dinner we have never eaten during all our holiday in outside Restaurant. We recommend not to miss a dinner in the Riad. The old Medina Palace has been wonderfully redecorated according to the old original style of a traditional Moroccan house, with a palm in the central courtyard. Every room has its own bathroom as in a hotel. The entire staff is very kind and helpful. Aziz will give you all the information you require to visit Marrakech or to organize other tours. The first time we arrived with a taxi to the Riad, we hesitated in walking alone inside the maze of the Medina. The narrow lanes of the Medina in fact don't allow taxis to reach the door of the Riad, but no problem, you can call the Riad and someone of the staff arrives to accompany you from the taxi to door of the heavenly Riad. Thanks to Emma and to the staff of the Riad, they were really friendly and cooperative. ”
“This is a very beautiful and comfortable riad. It has been decorated to a high standard and with lots of taste. The beds are super comfortable with lovely crisp linen. Air-conditioning in the spacious bedrooms whose ensuite bathrooms were compact but very nice with a traditional tadelakt finish and piping hot water. Great roof terrace with tables, sunbeds (complete with a towel and a sunhat) and a seating area, that we enjoyed in the evenings. Lots of books in the library of the cosy sitting room and of course the inviting courtyard with a plunge pool that makes a riad a riad. Good breakfasts. Nice staff. Emma was away in the desert with a group but very helpful in her communication and husband Marcus visited the property daily and was also very helpful and charming. I have stayed in several riads in Marrakech before and although Zamzam is in a residential area in the very north of the medina and further away from the tourist ‘hotspots’, once you got your bearings, it was not a problem. Taxi’s are cheap (about 2 euro to go most places) and it was a 15 – 20 minute walk down to the souks. The good thing was that it was peaceful and you escape the teaming streets with their pushy vendors and get to experience a more 'real' environment. I didn't feel unsafe even when walking in the area quite late at night, which cannot be said of quite a few places nearer the centre (don't get me wrong, Marrakech is a fabulous city, just very hectic). Marcus recommended Limoni as one of the closest restaurants and it was so good we went back twice (not something I am apt to do when traveling as I like to experience as many different options as possible). Thanks so much for having us stay, we had a wonderful time.”
“Staying at this beautiful riad in the heart of Marrakech Medina is a true authentic Moroccan experience! The riad has been tastefully decorated and each room or suite is very comfortable with modern ammenities including air conditioning - essential in the hot Morrocan summer! Imane, Zamzam’s manager, was faultless in assisting our stay in arranging transport, bookings and guides in getting us in and out of the Medina as we would never have been able to find our way through the twisting but fascinating alleyways. Thank you Emma for offering your delightful property off season on Love Home Swap we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, Gillian and Peter. ”
“Thank you to Emma and Marcus, perfect hosts. Riad Zamzam is an island of peace and tranquility surrounded by the chaos that is Marrakesh. Everyone at the Riad was so friendly and helpful. We will be recommending Riad Zamzam to all our friends and family. No need to think about restaurants during your stay. The chef and food at Zamzam was amazing. ”
Where is it?
We are in the old walled city of Marrakech in an authentic riad - we are in the north medina near Majorelle gardens and YSL museum. We are near the new city for restaurants and bars and near the souks and palaces for sight seeing.
