Where is it?

Our neighborhood.
Our house is júst outside the official centre but therefore even more central, because Amsterdam has many nice different neighbourhoods. It's on a canal 5 min.walking dist. from the old centre (= Jordaan) the 3 famous canals (Prinsen-, Keizers-, Herengracht, Anne Frankhouse (10 min. walk). Two nice big parks, Vondelpark and Westerpark about ten min. walk, the Museumplein 15 min. (van Goghmuseum, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk museum) The Leidseplein 10 min. walk (Milkyway, Paradiso). Lots of nice shops, cafe's and restaurants in the old part of town. Cinema's and theaters, operahouse, galleries, all nearby. Easy to get a canal tour. A saturday-biological foodmarket, a mondaymorning fleemarket and an everyday market within walking distance. The city is not as big as London or Paris, it's easy to walk around, and (Amsterdam has no hills...) most people bike. Trams; most connections stop within walkingdistance. You can also take a tram to the Central Station (15 minutes) and take any bus or train to visit other parts of Holland (typical old Dutch villages like Marken or Edam). A 45 min ride by bus, train or even hydrofoil takes you to the Northsea beach in Zandvoort or IJmuiden.
