About our home

The apartment is situated on the ground floor of an architectural masterpiece of the so called 'Amsterdam school of architecture'. Build in the late twenties by architect Cornelis Blaauw and recently totally renovated in the original style. The house is situated in the Berlage quarter in the southern part of the center of Amsterdam. Residential area in walking/cycling distance of and all the big musea, concerthalls, and the Vondelpark and Beatrixpark. Also close to the beach (30 minutes drive). The house has a big living room with a semi open kitchen, and a separate dining area. In the living room there is a comfortable sofabed. Then there are two bedrooms both with doors opening onto the quiet patio at the back to the house. One is the master bedroom with a big double bed (we are both tall!), and one children's bedroom with a child's bed and a baby cot. The appartement has two bathrooms: one with a big bath, and one with a shower + separate loo. For the rest our two studio's are located in the house, but we would like to keep them a bit private since we are both keeping our professional stuff there (we are a filmmaker and a furniture designer/psychologist). They can be used for study though. Through the whole house there is wifi. Our housekeeper comes ones a week for cleaning and ironing.

Where is it?

Our house is situated in a centrally, very green, and beautiful part of Amsterdam. Within 15 minutes walk of the Museum Square where one finds Rijksmuseum (Night-watch), Van Gogh Museum, Museum of Modern arts, and the National Concert Hall. The main city parks Vondelpark and Beatrix park are in walking distance. Also the two main chique shopping streets: Beethovenstraat and Cornelis Schuyt Straat, are around the corner. So the direct surroundings are quite, but within the vicinity of one block away there are nice cafe's, bookshops, restaurants, and all cultural and sports facilities one can imagine.
