Large and light family house in Amsterdam

“This exchange only took place about 10 days before my departure and it could not have been any better re location and time. I had a chance to meet with Abigail and children on the day of my arrival which made it more special knowing the people who actually live there. My children, who had been traveling the world for the last 15 months and myself were in the Netherlands for a family reunion and the location was perfect for us as it was very close to where our other family members were living. Maarten and Abigael\'s home was a perfect base for us and we felt at home in their lovely light sunny house. Having their cats Gerrit and Muis (renamed by my children to Molly and Mouse as the name Gerrit was a bit hard to deal with) as company made it even feel more like home. The location of the house is perfect for anyone wanting to explore the city as you are in walking distance of the Amstel canal which you can walk along to the centre of town and visit the windmill. The tram no 5 and Metro 51 are also a few minutes away and these take you to the centre of town in no time. Maarten and Abigael we can\'t thank you enough for letting us stay in your apartment and we appreciated your little gift of stroopwafels and the bottle of wine.”

“This flat is literally 2 minutes' walk from a tram stop from which you can be in central Amsterdam in 15 minutes or so (2 different tram lines, cheap). There's a nice supermarket nearby. It has everything you could need for small children, including cot, highchair, stair gate, etc, and for slightly older children too. The playground 20 metres from the front door is very nice, and safe. The flat itself is very light, with a very pleasant balcony, and was big enough for 4 adults + child + infant. The owners, Maarten and Abigael, are very pleasant and helpful, and speak better English than us. Their two cats are very cute, but will leave you alone if you prefer that. So, it's all good.”

“We enjoyed very much our home exchange with Abigael en Maarten. Their apartment is spacious and comfortable, with an excellent location (close to the tram and to Amsterdam's park). Our son enjoyed the pets (cats and rabbits) and was eager each evening to return to their home. Abigael and Maarten were extremely friendly and helpful (we had to schedule an urgent doctor meeting) as well as having great tips about what to do in Amsterdam”

“We enjoyed a lovely exchange with Maarten and Abigaël's family in July. Their home is located in a peaceful neighborhood and has very convenient access to the tram that quickly takes you to Amsterdam's museum district and city's center. The tram is inexpensive and frequent, making it very easy to go back and forth between the city and Maarten and Abigaël's home multiple times a day. Their home is spacious, bright, and very comfortable. We enjoyed the appealing decor and the opportunity to spread out in different rooms, and found their home well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Additionally, we got to meet their helpful neighbors and enjoyed the company of their very sweet cats (who are, as they say, truly hypo-allergenic). All communication was very clear before, during, and after the exchange. Our families met via FaceTime before the exchange, and one of our daughters was able to meet them in person when they arrived at our home. They couldn't have been nicer or taken better care of our home. Our only regret is that we didn't arrange a longer exchange to enjoy more of their neighborhood or their beautiful city.”
