“We had a great 3-day stay at Pieter and Dave's beautiful house in Amsterdam Noord. This is our 3rd swap with them, and our first in their new house which is lovely - so comfortable, beautiful decor, sun-trap front garden and in the middle of a dyke with beautiful walks in both directions along the Ij or towards town. Pieter and Dave are excellent communicators and left all the info we could possibly need about the house, nearby walks and restaurants (Lazuur is thoroughly recommended), getting around, bikes etc. The city centre is just half an hour away by bus and the new metro system, so easy to navigate, but there are also many nearby attractions, restaurants and bars that are not so visited by tourists. Thoroughly recommended”

About our home
You can't get more Dutch then this as our house is actually built ON a dyke. It means there is a large basement and that the house is one floor higher in the back than in the front. There are a master bedroom, a cosy attic room with single bed and a bathroom (with jacuzzi!) upstairs and a large bedroom and bathroom in the basement with access to the garden in the back. In the front there is a large south facing terrace. The house is very charming with heaps of character and space. Amsterdam Noord was featured in many national and international newspapers and magazines and is considered one of the hippest neighbourhoods in Europe. Be aware though that it is a bit further from town, but with bike, car, public transport like bus or ferry, downtown and all it has to over is within very easy reach. You are in the middle of it all within 25 minutes. Parking is free which is a HUGE plus here so it is also a great location to explore towns outside Amsterdam. But Noord itself has plenty to offer too. There are the new EYE film museum, A'dam tower, NDSM werf, the largest vintage market in the country and a variety of bars and restaurants, often housed in industrial buildings and facing the river IJ. We throw in a couple of bikes if needed and our car is optional, depending on the swap.
