About our home

We live in a sunny and spacious apartment in an historic canalhouse built in 1702, with a fantastic view of the canal and the park opposite.
There are three comfortable bedrooms each with a large double bed. We have wooden floors throughout the house and lots of windows. The house is original and surprising. There is a front and back house and the apartment extends over the top two floors of the building. When the kids were little their friends always claimed that this was the best house for hide and seek.

More about us

  1. My husband is an architect and I am an art educator and we have been married for 30 years. We bought this house 26 years ago and have been renovating it ever since. I am an American by birth but now have Dutch citizenship as well. Our two teenage daughters attend high school and while they are still living at home we would like to visit beautiful and interesting cities with them. Recent trips to Istanbul and Barcelona were a great success and enjoyed by all.
We have a good-natured 14 year old ginger cat. Taking care of him is part of the deal.

Neighbourhood

Our house is right in the center of Amsterdam and very close to Rembrandt's House, the Music Theater, the Jewish Historical Museum, the Science Museum, the Architecture Center and the Zoo. In short, it is perfect for culture-lovers. There are lots of shops, restaurants and cafes in the immediate area. You can walk everywhere, but there also good tram connections.

In addition to all the urban points of interest,
it is very easy to take bike rides from here out of the city.
