Bottomline: have both: the buzz of the city whilst staying in a childfriendly area with a lot of facilities.
We are a family with four children (including one baby/toddler) living in a gentrifying area just outside citycentre of Amsterdam. I work as a theatre director, teacher and happiness consultant and my husband is a captain who has sailed the world and back and currently cruises on the canals of Amsterdam. We love to travel with our family. Last winter we traveled to the the Trinidad in the Caribbean and New York. Last summer we drove to the South of France with our camper and stayed at an eco-camping in the Pyrenees. Our children are 12; 9; 7 and almost 1 year old.
Location: Since 5 years we have settled in our lovely home just outside the city-centre of Amsterdam. From here we can enjoy all the buzz culture and festivities that Amsterdam has to offer (at cycling distance), yet we can stretch our legs in a green neighborhood where shops, parks, sports and children’s facilities are at a walking distance.
Amsterdam is a great city and it is also great to visit Amsterdam with children. But if you visit with children it is Nice to have a place where they can roam around and play free from traffic, right at your doorstep.
We live in a typical city-home (relatively small) (70mtr2 and with good light) situated in a unique location and ideal for those who want to enjoy all the liveliness Amsterdam-citycentre has to offer but also want to stroll around in more quiet areas, experience parks, swimminglake plus beach at walking distance and experience Amsterdam without the massive influx of tourists. From our location you can have both!! (See connection section below).
Our home is on the third floor and has parkviews from all three bedrooms. The house is engeniously ‘rebuilt’ to fit all 4 children; have enough desk space and places to play and let the light in generously. The kitchen is separate and has all you need to cook (including an oven; dishwasher; Washingmachine; machine and drier).
ikes available for all Family members. (5).
And ofcourse we have WiFi, Netflix, on Demand TV
Rooms and sleeping arrangenent: one masterbedroom with one doublebed; one room with two single beds; one room with one single bed; one babybed in masterbedroom. The couch in the livingroom can be folded out to become a double bed.
- free parking
- city centre: bike: 15 minutes. See public transport below.
- We live right next to a park that includes a tenniscourt; swimmingpool for children; basketball and football area; picknick areas, all free of charge.
- indoor climbing wall (5 min walk) plus ecorestaurant
- a lake (swimming and sailing) plus beach (15 min walk). This is one of Amsterdam’s best hidden secrets (including a big park; resraurant; outdoor fitnessfacilities; sailingclubs)
- public transport: Our neighborhood is an upcoming area in the city and it is extremely well connected to other parts of the city as wel as outside the city. The Subway, tram and busstation is a two minute walk from your doorstep connecting you to whatever location. For example:
AirPort: 15 minutes
Trainstation: one minute (one subwaystop)
Amsterdam Beach “Zandvoort”: 30 min by bus, direct line;
Amsterdam central station 15 min by bus direct line;
Leidsesquare (heart of the ‘tourism zone’ direct tram (no.7) 15 minutes.
Very good connection to rest of country (both by car and public transport): Haarlem; Zaanse Schans; Rotterdam, just to name a few.
Vondelpark: (citycentre): cycle through the Rembrandtpark (5 min) and you are practically there.
Our location is good for any one, couple or any family who wants to explore the touristic city whilst being able to relax in a comfortable and green safe zone that has plenty to offer to you and your family.
