About our home

Our beautiful cottage was originally built in 1640 and was completely gutted and renovated in 2013. So now we feature luxury appliances and modern comfort while staying in one of the loveliest neighborhoods of the city. We added multiple skylights for a bright and spacious feel. We have a well equipped kitchen (SMEG oven, Nespresso, Blender, Kitchenaid, Spiralizer even) to a rain shower and amenities like a piano, bluetooth speaker, apple TV, yogamat, high speed WiFi and a well stocked library.

Our neighborhood is a former captains village that got swallowed by the city during the previous century. We have monumental old houses, the city forest and the beautiful waterland. On the other hand: take the bus and with just 3 stops (10 minutes) you are at Central Station. If you’d rather bike, borrow one of ours, it takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach the bustle of the inner city. We provide detailed guides and maps.

Not feeling like straying to far? Amsterdam Noord is the most up and coming neighborhood of the city, already dubbed a post-hipster heaven and recently covered in Esquire and Times Magazine. Restaurants like De Goudfazant, PLLEK, and the ADAM tower are all located on the sunny side of the IJ river.

One of our guests wrote the following:

Barbara and Jurre were wonderful extremely warm attentive hosts through the stay from start to finish. Their attention to detail when it comes to the look, feel and cleanliness of the house is of a very high standard and it definately shows they take great pride in their home. Guidebooks had been written very carefully to explain how things work (like the Nespresso coffee machine!). The Wifi internet was a great speed. The neighbourhood is very quiet and I would consider it a great retreat from the busy life of central Amsterdam yet it is only 15 minutes by bike to the free ferry that takes you there in moments (available 24 hours a day). (If you need to borrow a bike, they have a few spare). The neighbours were really kind and it felt like a great community to feel safe in. The kitchen is packed with utensils and kitchenware to support all your cooking needs alongside a wonderful concrete work surface straight out of a luxurious interior design magazine. The large combined kitchen, dining and living area gives a great open plan feel allowing you to breathe whilst the windows let in a great amount of natural light throughout the day. The living area boasts tons of books to keep you well read with an Apple TV to help you play music or watch Netflix. Yoga mats are also available, not to mention a very cool old piano if you have the finger skills. The main sleeping area upstairs was a delightful space. The room is separated by glass doors that lead into a very stylish wash room with a fantastic waterfall shower area that didn't disappoint when it came to heat and water strength. Thank you guys for a wonderful stay, it was a privilege and it would be great to hang out in the future. Much love x.
