This suite is definitely the most panoramic and romantic suite you've ever seen. It has a 360 degrees view on the IJ river in the heart of the city of Amsterdam. It has a glass roof so you can enjoy the stars and the moon, while laying on your big round bed. During the day you'll see swans, sailing boats, birds. It has a blue bathroom with a big bathtub. People rent it for around 300 Euro per night. But I might be willing to swop it for points or another nice place, once in a while. Check the pictures and more info here: http://bit.do/eR6Ex

“As a belated Valentine's gift, me and my wife spent a night in this romantic spot, overlooking our beloved city of Amsterdam. You are a stone's throw away from the ferry that takes you to downtown Amsterdam in 5 minutes, but in a secluded corner behind a lovely little harbour. Ilco is an amazing host who has an enormous passion for all his efforts and made us feel very welcome from the get go. He even suggested a great personal chef who prepared an amazing four course dinner as an extra surprise for my wife. The next morning he prepared a royal breakfast. The bed is very comfortable, the view is amazing and the bathroom has a comfortable bath that easily fits two! :) As Ilco normally rents this space via other platforms, we feel very lucky to have been able to book it through Love Home Swap. If you end up here through LHS, feel lucky and humbled. You'll love it.”

“We decided on a last minute trip to Amsterdam to see our son who is studying there. Ilco was very flexible in accomodating us on short notice. The place has a fabulous ethos only rivalled by the spectacular views from the suite. The bathroom had a rolled top bath which my husband loved and provided dressing gowns which came in very useful so as not to scare our neighbours passing by on their boats in the morning as we didnt want to close the curtains because of the views. The breakfast provided was delicious and Ilco kindly sold to us from his own stock the Roobos spice tea which we loved. This place made our trip very special. Thankyou to Ilco for letting us stay. I hope we will be able to stay again the next time we visit Amsterdam ”

I'm a Dutch man, living on a beautiful peninsula in the heart of the city Amsterdam. I'm a globetrotting father of three lovely daughters (18, 22 and 24 years old). Often I'm traveling alone since I'm a very active scuba-diver and also I use my trips for writing books and plans. Sometimes one of my daughters teams up with me or my partner Farah and her daughter Lila (14).
I'm a social entrepreneur, developing (international) cultural initiatives and festivals for youth. I'm also hosting the Mandela House (mandelahuisje.nl) where I support social goals, where people can get married and people can also enjoy the night in a beautiful suite with panoramic views on the city of Amsterdam or in an amazing tree house. During summertime there's also a lovely beachy bar on the peninsula.
I love sun, sea, scuba diving, relaxing, meeting other cultures and people and natural beauty. That's also why I love traveling.
