Our house is in the popular Amsterdam-IJburg neighborhood. The area is close to open water, with canals, beaches, parks and a harbor with cafes, restaurants and their terrasses. Every six minutes the tram takes you to the center of Amsterdam in 12 minutes. There are multible supermarkets and shops close by and an open market on Saturdays.
The house is 160m2, has three levels and a garden of 49m2. Ground floor: Entrance hall with a toilet and a sleeping room with a loft bed (140cm) and a sleeping sofa (140cm), and a sink. From the hall you enter the big kitchen and dining area with double doors that open to the garden. The kitchen is new with induction stove, two ovens, a dishwasher and is well equipped with utensils. The ceiling on the ground floor is 3.25 m high except in the dining area. There it is 6m high. The dining area and the living room are connected with a vide and a balcony where you can look down on the dining area. First floor: Living room. Second floor: The master bedroom with a double bed (180cm) and a beautiful vieuw over the gardens. A second bedroom with two sleeps, third bedroom with one sleep (loft bed) . Bathroom with skylight, rain shower, bathtub with yacussi, two sinks, a washingmaschine and a dryer. Toilet is in a separate room. . There is a private parking space free of charge. The house feels like the neighborhood; spacious, light and airy. A perfect house in a perfect neighborhood if you want space, comfort and tranquility only 12 minutes away from the buzzling center of Amsterdam.

La maison à Amsterdam est idéalement située, à 15 min de tram de la gare centrale et avec tous commerces de proximité nécessaires. Les intérieurs et extérieurs sont aménagés avec soin et beaucoup d'attention et les volumes de vie sont très harmonieux. Nous recommandons très vivement cette famille avec qui nous avons eu des échanges réguliers et très cordiaux. ”

“The tree of us (me, my husband and 3 y/o son) loved our time at Bjorg and family's house. it is a very spacious and equipped apartment. There is also a super comfortable backyard to enjoy when the whether helps. The neighborhood is super calm with some options for eating and a closed Albert Heijn. Tram is timely available every 15min to Central Station. Also we are super thankful for all treatment and communication we have had with the Hosts, that also stayed at our home in Lisbon. Super recommended swap experience. ”

The location is perfect for families with kids, there are many playgrounds in the area, all the shops you can need, family-friendly restaurants, the beach… And only at a 10min train ride from the center of Amsterdam. The house is big and comfortable, with a few things to be mended but Björg will definitely be on top of it for the next swaps. We are very happy with our stay and would gladly come back! “We wanted a warm and beautiful home to stay in while visiting our family in Amsterdam. Well we got it! The place was impeccable with nice touches. Loads of space with various living areas over multiple levels. Conveniently located in an iconic new Dutch architecture suburb with shops close by. The neighbourhood was nice, quiet, but lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Nice to go on a bike to the beach. Very easy to take the tram to the center of Amsterdam in about 10 minuets. We are Björg and Wouter. We are an Icelandic/Dutch couple, with three children. Our oldest, Arnar, is twenty seven, studys at the University of San Francisco. Our daughter, Sóley is eighteen and in highschool. The youngest, Óðinn is thirteen and in highschool.
Björg is an architect and Wouter is a tax attorney. We like travelling, reading and cooking.
We love living in Amsterdam and we enjoy our neighbourhood and especially our spacious, light house.
IJburg is a groep of man- made islands in the IJmeer lake. The islands are connected with canals and bridges. In the summer the canals are occupied with boats and swimmers. There are several beaches around and IJburg is often called Amsterdam Beach. There is a big nature- like park called Diemerpark whith some wildlife like little foxes, rabbits and many types of birds. There are several smaller parks like Van Goghpark and Ed Pelsterpark with playgounds. IJburg has a big variety of housing types which reflects in the population: Family's, couples, students, of all ages and cultures. A real mirroring of the population of Amsterdam. For those who are interested in modern architecture there is a lot to see. There is a possibility to have a guided architectural tour. There are three big supermarkets, two butchers, two fish stores, Exotic grocerystore, boutiqs, a bookstore, bakerys, drugstores, takeaway's and an open market on Saturdays. There are many restaurants and bars, harbour with a ferry to the island of Pampus en to the Muiderslot, a medieval castle in Muiden. all in all a lot to do for young and old.
