Our home is a charming 19th century cottage in the historical centre of Utrecht, 20 minutes from Amsterdam. Built in 1856, this two-story house has hardwood floors, characterful built-in cupboards and high ceilings. It is situated in a quiet corner of the city centre, but just a stones throw away from shops, restaurants and museums.
Downstairs: living room with piano - kitchen with oven and dish washer - bathroom with washing and drying machine - separate toilet.
Upstairs: master bedroom with a Queen sized bed, built-in cupboards and a nook with a view of Utrechts landmark: the Dom-tower - one bedroom/study with a baby cot and changing table and a desk.
In front of the house is a semi-public garden/walkway. In summertime, kids come out to play and adults relax. Just around the corner are a café, restaurant, a park with playground and walks along the beautiful Singel surrounding the old centre.
All amenities (supermarket, shops, library) are at 5-10 min walking distance. The train station can be reached within 20 minutes by foot, leading you across canals and along many historical streets. Bicycles are available (including child's seat).
Since we have a one-year-old daughter, our home is child proof and includes a baby cot, changing table, high chair etcetera. However, if you're not traveling with children, these items can easily be put away. We also have two inflatable mattresses available.
