About our home

Our apartment is located in the very center of the city, on the 10th floor of a newly built 16 story building. The apartment faces south-east which offers a stunning view of the city, the famous Dom tower, and provides lots of sunlight. It is a one-bedroom apartment with an en-suite bathroom equipped with a large shower; living room/kitchen, and a balcony facing the main city square.

The kitchen has a granite “island” that is conveniently located to allow cooking while enjoying the sunset over the city. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with a dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave, and a variety of pots and pans. An espresso machine, toaster, and a panini grill are also available. The balcony is about 2X3 meters with a table and set of chairs. It is a perfect spot to enjoy an evening glass of wine or a morning coffee while watching the sunrise. The bedroom has two large wardrobes on either sides of the bed, plenty of books, and several sets of Egyptian cotton sheets, including Westin’s Heavenly Bed sheets. The predominant color of the apartment is white, which adds an airy feel to our home. Multiple plants, ranging from a banana tree, an orchid, coffee plant, aloe to a fern bring in some life and a splash of color. The art on the walls is a mix of modern and contemporary, with a stronger focus on abstract expressionism (the art is often switched around). A washer/dryer is located in the storage room.

The apartment is on the 10th floor, there are two elevators and a security system downstairs. Trash, recycling and glass are located in downstairs too, along with the bike storage. Our bikes are in the storage and can be used.

Utrecht is a lively student town with a population of roughly 200.000. The city center is relatively small with two canals flowing from north to south. There are plenty of restaurants ranging from “white-table-cloth” to hip new places featuring vegan sushi, hot dogs, and ramen. Cocktail bars and specialty beer places and local breweries are also present.

The apartment is only 5 minute walk from the Utrecht central station and there a train to Amsterdam leaving every 10 min. In fact, the train ride to Amsterdam Amstel is only 20 minutes from where you can walk or take a train to museum square to visit famous museums (Stedelijk, Van Gogh museum, etc.).

There are plenty of parks and nature areas in the vicinity if you'd like to escape the city life and spend some time in the forest or have a picnic in the park. Amelisweerd, for instance, is a peaceful riverside park, reachable by a short bus ride.

Dogs are welcome. We have a 2 year old shiba inu who enjoys runs in the park and spending time outside in cafés with us.

All in all, staying in our place you get the best of both worlds - being in the middle of a historical city, with a clear proximity to bustling Amsterdam and an ability to relax and enjoy the canals, parks, and local life. We are looking forward to welcoming you.

P.S. We also have ultra HD Netflix. :)
