About our home

Perfect to visit all the traditional and famous hot spots in the center of Amsterdam or enjoy and experience the trendy local places.

From the characteristic porche/entrance the stairs leads to our private front door at the 2nd floor. From the vestiaire/garderobe the stairs are going up where you will find an open hall giving access to the living room (11 x 3,50 m), a large fully equipped open kitchen (access to balcony), toilet and the master bedroom. The former attic at the 4th floor offers two bedrooms, a study, a second separate toilet and the recent renovated bathroom. There is also a fourth room that we use as store room.
Although unfortunately a lot of original features have been removed trough the years, the house still has that characteristic ambiance of the early 20th century.
We rebuild and renovated our apartment in 2006. January 2014 we just finished rebuilding the bathroom.
For younger children we still have a lot of toys and stuff to play with. We also can arrange special furniture for a baby if needed. Small dogs are aloud (because of the stairs bigger dogs are not to be recommend). Public parks, playing grounds and a children’s farm are around the corner. We have our 4 (adult size) bikes available for you.
Our apartment is perfect to visit all the traditional and famous hot spots in the center of Amsterdam. But you also can enjoy and experience the more trendy local places and attractions in the neighborhood itself and the direct surroundings.

Within 10 minutes by public transport (tram nr 13/14) you are at the Dam Square in the historic center of Amsterdam, surrounded by the canals and the beautiful houses from de 18th century. Within 15 minutes (tram nr 12) you arrive in front of all the favorite museums like the modern Stedelijk museum, the Rijksmuseum and Vincent Gogh museum. Even more close is the Anne Frank house and the popular jordaan district where you can shop in the ‘nine streets’. In 15 minutes the tram nr 7 brings you to the Leidseplein (lots of shopping, main theatre, cinemas, famous concert hall’s like Paradiso (former church) and De Melkweg for (modern) music and dancing.

The central station is 15 to 20 minutes by public tram nr 13. From the airport Schiphol the train brings you in 15-20 minutes at the central station. Other interesting cities like The Haque, Utrecht or Alkmaar are also easily to visit by train or car.
The beach is only half an hour by car or to reach with public transport in an hour. If you like to relax Amsterdam offers a couple of nice green parks and we even have a forest: Het Amsterdamse Bos (40 minutes bicycle for ex)
Directly in the street you will find very good restaurants and bars. Just around the corner you can buy the best fruits and veg’s, and all other qualtity stuff you need, at our local Turkish grocery. There are a lot of nice places for coffee, breakfast and lunch. In just 5 minutes you also find bigger supermarkets (in different price categories) and a daily market with fresh stuff. Like many districts that in the past where not very popular, ‘De Baarsjes’ has become as we say an ‘up-coming’ neighborhood with a lot of trendy hot spots. We are very happy that in april 2014 there will be the opening of ‘De Hallen’, a center for culture and media, fashion, arts and crafts. It is located very nearby in a historic building ‘tram-remise’ (old garage for trams).
