“My exchange with José was terrific. Her apartment is very nice and i enjoyed my five nights in the city Den Haag alot. I especially appreciated her balcony since the weather was very good and warm. José lent me her bike so I went around using this mostly. During my stay I had a fantastic day at the beach and also got see Amsterdam, which was easy accessible with train. To say it short, a very nice stay in a very nice apartment! Thanks José!”
José's reviewsAs a host (5)
“We "met" Jose online and emailed for about one year before our exchange this past April/May. Her home was compact but adequate for our needs, located in a quiet neighborhood. It is light-filled with large windows front and back. We agreed to provide care for her cats - but they are very independent and didn't need much attention. The home is convenient to buses and trams. It is easy to get to Central Station and from there, the entire country. There is a variety of shopping within a few streets. An easy exchange locale for one or two persons.”
“We did exchange with José, we met her in her house in the Hague. José is very nice and gave us a lot of information about the Hague, we took care of her cats, they were a bit shy at the start, but later on they looked comfortable with our presence. Jose’s house is in a quiet area of the Hague, breakfast on her balconny in the morning, with the bikes (also with public transport) it is not far from the city center, also the beach is very reachable. We loved the atmosphere from the neighbourhood. Defenitely recommend!”
“José has a lovely flat full of light in a quiet part of The Hague. It still has some of the original 1930s features and that makes it a special place to stay. Public transport takes you to the centre of the town and to the beach quickly and easily but we were lucky enough to cycle everywhere since the weather was sunny and warm. José made us feel very welcome. She left maps and folders of the many things to do and to see in The Hague. Her cats are friendly and shy. On a practical level there are shops, supermarkets, local pubs, take-aways and restaurants near by. We had a number of excellent meals and bakeries have yummy cakes and tarts. A special mention for Irrawaddy, the Thai take-away on het Spui and the hazelnut-meringue tarts from Maison Kelder!”
“The apartment of José is a very nice stay to visit Den Haag. It is very quiet and public transport is around the corner and brings you everywhere. The cats are very shy, but come closer if you stay longer. Den Haag is an interesting city and the beach is easy to reach by tram. We enjoyed our stay very much.”
Where is it?
The city of The Hague offers a lot: culture, theater, shopping, dining and the beach (at Scheveningen). http://www.denhaag.nl/en/visitors.htm
My neighbourhood is called 'Bezuidenhout-Oost'. It's 10 minutes from the city centre by bike/tram/bus. The beach of Scheveningen is about 20 minutes by bike or bus.(By car is not recommended with warm weather due to traffic!)
A shoppingstreet called Theresiatraat is around the corner and offers supermarkets, shops and some restaurants. Within a 5 minute walk there is a nice park where they allow you to barbeque.
An indoorpool and gym are also within 5 minute reach.
The nearest trainstations are Den Haag Laan van NOI and Den Haag Central. Both 15 minute walk. (5 minutes on bike, also reachable by bus or tram)
Amsterdam by train: 40 minutes
Leiden: 10 minutes
Rotterdam: 30 minutes
Utrecht: 40 minutes
Lisse Keukenhof flowerpark: Leiden 10 min.+ direct shuttlebus 30 minutes
