About our home

Old house at the ''Westhaven'' meaning West Harbour in the time when Gouda was still a major through-port for merchandise. the canal at the back is only 6 meters wide and follows the ''Peperstraat'', meaning Pepper-street and reminiscent of the time when herbs and other goods were traded with the East Indies. Gouda is one of the jewel mideaval towns that is still largely intact. Gouda of course is also known for its cheese but als for pipes, beer and ''plateel'' (pottery). Th ehouse is within the old town area, so within the area that used to be walled. Everything is walkable to enjoy the old town but at the same time it is an ideal place to plan visits to Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Utrecht. It has an intercity railway station meaning all trains stop at Gouda. train to Rotterdam is only 19 minutes, to Amsterdam 55.
