“We spent two weeks in August 2015, in the very quiet house of Annet and Hermann, in a central place. The communication with them was very useful, and even if it was a 'last minute' exchange all has been done for us, with a lot of information (on the city, the country, the house, etc...). The location is ideal to visit the center of Groningen, and using their bikes it was only 7 minutes away. Groningen is a great location, with 90% of bikes in the venter, very calm, with boats, parks, beautiful old houses, the Martini Tour, the modern Mendini museum, a lake lot to far from the house where we went several times for swimming and visit the huge park. Very modern houses in this area, peaceful routes... Ideal with children. We also went to the northern coast (less than one hour drive) to visit the Waddenzee islands (Schiermonnikoog or Borkum: unforgettable places, accessible by ferry). The other places near Sneek are also very beautiful! We highly recommend Annet and Hermann house, where you will spent for sure beautiful, calm, and interesting holidays! Thanks again”

“We had a wonderful summer holiday 2010 in Groningen. Annet and Herman are really nice people. They gave us excellent feeling in their house and took excellent care of our home. We do not hesitate to give our best recommendations to this family and their home.”
“We enjoyed very much being at the home of Annet and Herman. They have a huge amount of information about the city which we used for making nice walks in the cosy city of Groningen. They put typical Groningen products for us on the table to use, so kind! The house is very comfortable and it’s only 10 minutes on bike to the center. Communication with Annet and Herman is easy and accurate. We can warmly recommend an exchange with them!!”
“We spent a long weekend in May cycling in the surroundings of the city. We cycled up to the northern countryside which is easily accessable from Annet and Hermans house. Sitting along the pond near the house was peaceful and enjoyable because of a nestling pair of waterbirds. The city is interesting because of its modern architecture. The variety of stiles and use of colors are impressive.”
Where is it?
Our neighborhood is quiet with no through traffic and very near to the old city centre; 10 minutes walk or 5 minutes by bicycle. The busstop to the city centre and train/bus station is at the end of the street, a one minute walk from the house. There are two city-parks within walking distance.
Groningen is an old and lively university-city.
The city has just over 200.000 inhabitants and is a cultural and economic centre for the northern part of the country.
It has one of the largest universities of the Netherlands with over 45.000 students.
Amsterdam is a two-hour drive by car or by train and there is a direct train connection between Amsterdam airport and Groningen (2 hours).
Also a direct bus connection between Bremen airport (Germany) and Groningen (2 hours).
The coast is a one-hour drive away and a visit to one of the inhabited islands just off the coast, like the Island Schiermonnikoog or the German Island Borkum, makes a very attractive day trip.
There is excellent public transport.
Other European countries (Germany, Belgium, France, Denmark, England) are within easy reach.
Groningen airport has a daily flight connection with London Southend airport (low-cost carrier flybe)
