“This summer was our first home exchange experience and it could not have been better than in the lovely and spacious home of Marion and Nico, in the quiet and smart town of Haarlem: we felt comfortable like at home from the first moment. They suggested many things to do, very good recommendations. Going by boat along the canals is so nice, and biking is perfect, enjoying the wonderful and always green landscapes and the colored flowers, that you find everywhere (also in our garden!), not to tell the mills –we had a wonderful one next to our house. We also swapped the car. Amsterdam is 15 minutes away from home. One museum that impressed us, out of Amsterdam, is the Krüller-Müller, not only because the quality of the art works there but also because it’s in a National Park –we saw many deer when the sunset! The contact with Marion was very easy and warm, and we found our house exactly as we left it –even better… We strongly recommend home swap with them. Teresa and Francesc.”

“Haarlem is such a charming city, the surrounding region full of things to discover and the home is very nice and comfortable ! The neighborhood is really quiet and beautiful. Nico and Marion have been very welcoming with kind attentions and arranging to make our stay great. From the beginning to the end, this exchange was as simple as great. To make it simple : thanks Marion and Nico and we can only highly recommend anyone to get in touch”
“It was a great 18 days exchange. Communications with Marion were easy and prompt from the beginning to the end, the house was just what we needed (delightful little garden included), we found our property in perfect conditions upon return. We even shared our car, and it was perfect. Haarlem is a nice, easy going town from where you can reach every corner of Holland (make sure you don't miss the Fuller Muller museum and park in Central Holland!). You can make it to Amsterdam in a 15 min ride by train, which we did many times. Marion even shared with us her car parking permit for the beach, and swimming in the North Sea was a fantastic experience. We even had sunshine and warm weather throughout the whole period! This exchange is highly recommended. Probably the best we have done so far. Thanks a lot Marion ! ”
“We have just arrived from our trip to Haarlem, in Holland. We swapped with Marion and Nico. Everything was easy from the start, we had a warm and constant communication via email with them and we easily sorted out all the little "difficulties" we may have had. After living in their place and seeing their way of life, I have the feeling that we are quite alike in tastes and interests. It seems that we all like funny little things which we bring from our trips abroad and Art! The house is beautiful and big, with a "lived" backyard where we spent a lot of time in the evenings hearing the seagulls and the boats going by. They left a lot of information for us which was very helpful. And having a car at the door was really comfortable. We highly recommend this exchange with Marion and Nico.”
“We had a lovely time in the house of Marion, Nico and their two daughters. It is cosy, has lots of books(in English and dutch) as well as quirky and artistic decorative touches. We give high marks for their luxury and original bathroom. Their cat is great! The house is situated at an easy walking distance from the train station and even nearer to the city centre, next to a working windmill. The paved garden has many colorful pots and plants. Haarlem is a beautiful city, easy to enjoy with lots of museums, “hofjes”, cafés, restaurants and nice shops. The beach is near and Amsterdam only 20 minutes by a train that goes every 10 minutes. We also cycled an afternoon in the green wetlands that surround the city. A tiny ferry took us to the other side of a canal with the bicycles, that was a special treat. We had an easy e-mail contact before and after the exchange and the family left our house spotlessly clean. We highly recommend this exchange and we wouldn't mind coming back at all!”
Where is it?
Haarlem is an old Dutch city nicely situated between the beach and Amsterdam. It has some world-renowned museums (Teylers- and Frans Hals).
It has been chosen a couple of times as number one shopping city of the Netherlands, with it's original and exclusive little shops.
Close to our house (less then 5 minutes walk) are a couple of trendy- as well as traditional restaurants and terraces.
Haarlem has wonderful and various surroundings containing sand-dunes, natureparcs , beach, woods and the typical Dutch polder-landscape.
