Where is it?

Our home is situated in one of the greenest towns in the Netherlands, Heemstede, 6 km from the North Sea beach (at Zandvoort), 20 min by train to Amsterdam Central Station, 15 min. to Leiden, 35 min to The Hague, 45 min to Rotterdam. The train station can be reached by bus, bike (15 min) and car (7 min). Amsterdam airport (Schiphol) is at about half an hour by train, bus or taxi. The province of North Holland with beautiful characteristic Dutch low land scenery and the likewise green hart of the Netherlands in the central west are easily accessible.
Heemstede is southerly adjacent to Haarlem, a beautiful old city with a lot of cultural and recreational possibilities. At walking distance, it has got a centre with widely known and well-furnished shops. It lies moreover in the bulb area just behind the dunes (late March to May is the flowering season), 15 min driving from the Keukenhof, our major open air bulb exhibition. Conservation areas cover most of the 5km wide strip of dunes along this part of the coastline and they comprise extensive traffic-free walking/biking areas.
