About our home

It's a very homey house.

The house is build in the 30s and it offers a fairly big garden (to dutch standards). It sleeps 5 -7 people, and has the regular modern conveniences. Four bedrooms, but now only 3 available (2 x doublebeds and 1 x single).
Two bathrooms. One extra asset is the little boat that takes you into Haarlem and beyond.
2 cats.

  1. We are a Dutch couple and parents of 3 children, who are not living at home anymore. More and more time to travel.

    Heidi is a speech therapist working with complex handicaped children.
    Walter works as a trainer/coach in teams and organisations.
    Our children: Twins of 26, son and daughter, Sep and Nikki and a daughter of 22, Iza.
    We have 2 cats: Mipsy and Nemo.

Where is it?


The house is situated along a canal, close to the train station that brings you into Amsterdam in 20, The Haque in 30 and Rotterdam in 45 minutes. Close to Heemstede is a very old city called Haarlem, with lots of shops, restaurants, musea, terraces, movie theatre and markets. If you use the bike (30 min)or go by car, it is very easy to access the sandy beach, where you can go windsurfing, kitesurfing or go for a swim.
Also walks in the woods or the dunes are available.
Close by there is a big park with lots of activities like: waterskiing, mountain biking, canoeing and picknicks.
